The official running thread™

During my very brief run, before my knee gave issues I tried out the Deviate Nitro Pure. It provides a very bouncy ride, didn't have time to test it at faster paces though. Comfort is far superior to the Velocity Nitro 4 even though the Pure is more minimal/stripped down with padding. Prefer the tongue on the Pure as well. The purse is also super light. Just based on that brief 1km run, I'd definitely opt for the Pure over the VN4.

Since I was afraid of the midfoot being too narrow like the VN4 I opted to go for half a size up. I think I could have gone with my normal shoe size and be fine since Puma does tend to be long. The midfoot on the Pure is wider than the VN4 and doesn't give any issues. Pure is also more stable as a result.

Just a update on the Runna app. Looks like I am going to keep it ( I am liking this half marathon plan I am doing).
It's R 899.00 for a year....not the cheapest but considering how often I will be using it not so bad.
:giggle:It also comes with other workouts if you want.

I also installed it last week. Been great so far. Also training for a half marathon. I hurt my shins on Sunday though so having trouble this week keeping up. Need to rest my legs :( I have it per month, which is more expensive in the long run, but thinking I will only use it for 3 to 4 months.

Maybe take it easy and let it lapse and use @Sinbad referral code when your better :p

Interesting. Now I really want to know what you think of the Aero Glide 3 since that's what I'd call a firmer more stable Novablast 5.
So got a surprise delivery today while I was at work!

I must admit the Aero Glide 3 fit very nice. I really like their lacing and the general fit. Might be running a little bigger than normal, I go between 12 and 12.5 generally and this 12.5 feels a tad big but it's a comfortable big, if I could have got a 12 I think I would have preferred it.

The AG 3 feel very bouncy and quite a bit soft.

The upper is one that's a bit stiffer which I actually prefer. Out of all my shoes I love how breathable the Novablasts mesh is but I don't like that loose, collapsing type fit.

It's raining for the next few days so might only get to take them for a spin on Saturday

They feeling flat in the front foot now and I am not sure if this is causing a lil pain in my shins. I will keep pushing them though :p Shoes ain't cheap.
I wasn't disputing your reason, but rather challenging your reason :) If they are giving you issues then I agree

Do you do any strength training exercises for running?

Not as yet! But I see Runna offers strength training and mobility training which I want to add on very soon etc :)

I suspect you will solve many issues that you might be unfairly blaming on your shoes :p
We will see. I don't actually want to retire them just yet...I am pretty fond of them since they are my first pair of running shoes. :p

I agree. I've also had issues with my shins, but doing some strength exercises and making sure I warm up my legs before a run as fixed that. I also run more on my toes now instead of my heel, which also helped a lot, but was quite hectic on the calves at first.

Surely a shoe can't make big a difference in Hydrox and this is a crazy price...
Yea so the base running model is around R4,200. Both have a carbon plate in and the only real main difference if i remember correctly is the outer sole.

I do think they crazy, there are people doing it in R2,000 pair of shoes and getting good times. I am doing Hyrox next year for the company i work and Puma are going to be covering my costs so hoping i get a pair of R6k shoes as well and then i'lll judge them
