I have had such bad luck recently, I first started with the mi 8 on miphones.co.za, then my friend Diana told me 2 weeks later that the phone was not in stock so that took plenty of phone calls and stress to finally get a refund, I then bought the mi 10 note lite on Amazon, got it quickly but there was an issue with dead pixels on the display, I sent it back (R1080 later) should get the refund back soon excluding the cost to send it back. I then tried the 'more' local route with connected devices and ordered the mi 10 5G, they have been excellent, but I have been informed that the supplier is out of stock, so I'm getting kinda desperate for a phone now and it seems xiaomi is not easy to get, I think I'll give connected devices another day or two to see if the supplier gets stock, and if not I'll settle for a redmi, they seem to be seriously good value for money since I'm using my daughter's old redmi with a cracked screen and its 4 years old.
Buy a Redmi 9C for the time being. Takealot has stock @ R1999.

I ordered the Poco F2 Pro global version. I wasn't too sure about the Chinese versions as I didn't want to have any issues. They do load global software but beware of that.

My wife ordered the Mi 10 Lite from them and had such an issue. They sent the Chinese mi 10 lite zoom phone (without asking if she was fine with that) as they didn't have stock of the mi 10 lite global that she ordered. So what they did is shove the global firmware for the mi 10 lite on it, as the zoom version is China only. The problem was that the camera didn't work, just kept crashing. She eventually managed to get a refund through PayPal but took over a month, lost all the customs and return postage that was paid. They just ignore all her emails. Just beware the risks if ordering from them. I was lucky and had no issues.
Where did you order? Can't find any Chinese sites that are delivering to SA right now.

I ordered from Giztop, they deliver here no problem. They seem to have less and less global phones, however the chinese versions do have english. My delivery was quick via DHL (2 weeks) but when my wife ordered they used Aramex which are utterly useless and it took a month to arrive on the 7-10 days delivery option.

Shame man, sounds rough. I don't know why they don't bring more of the Xiaomi devices into SA. The redmi phones are brilliant, even for the SA prices, only thing I don't like is that none have AMOLED displays. I like my AOD and underscreen finger print reader.

Once you've played with the Redmi Note range you'll realise there's really no need for slightly better spec from overseas for a little less. It's not worth the risk and pain.
Hope you eventually find what you looking for.

Well that makes me feel a lot better, I did indeed just purchase the redmi note 9 pro from takealot, it is the 64gb and then I added in a 64gb mem card. Will collect tomorrow on my way back from work.

Feel so lucky that I came across the brand Xiaomi/Redmi after a cheap Acer phone gave up the ghost, back in 2019. I chose the Redmi 8 and was immediately amazed by the incredible value for money. I actually turned down a free Google Pixel 4 as a gift, because it lacked a lot that the R2500 Redmi did have, how is that even possible?

Soon became a big Xiaomi fan, and I recommend them where possible (esp. to those interested in good value). Brilliant features, build quality, and price. And I have to mention that including a screen protector, and a case in the box is very appreciated.

I do prefer to buy local (with exceptions for some small stuff) for the peace of mind etc. and believe that after sales support is part of the product. And I in fact did have one very minor issue being that; the screen protector that came bundled with the Redmi 8 actually had a crack, but Takealot sent a whole new phone bundle in a couple days no questions asked, awesome!

Although the Redmi 8 has been going super strong since day 1, I decided to treat myself (mainly wanted a bit better chipset for smoother gaming, and to play with a macro camera too I guess) and moved up to the Note 9 Pro 64GB + Wireless Earbuds for R4999. I was pleasantly surprised that the phone came with a screen protector already perfectly applied, in addition to a second one included with the bundle (the value never ends).

The phone itself has been exactly as expected, brilliant. And although I wasn't interested in wireless earbuds, nor expected much from what a cheap pair can deliver.. I now find myself here actually being quite pleased by what these wireless earbuds can offer, they actually work well for me (IMO given the price point). I feel fancy having this awesome phone and using wireless earbuds now, yet I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it all. Almost too good to be true. Maybe I should get a MiBand as well to play with..

Anyway, am one very happy consumer. Game changing stuff from this brand. Thank you Xiaomi!:)

I feel much the same way you do about my Redmi 9C. I'm loving this phone the more I use it. Kinda grows on you :thumbsup:

Is there really a significant difference between the Redmi 9A and 9C?
Does the Redmi 9A come with Gorilla Glass?

Is a back cover and screen protector included when buying these?

9C has fingerprint unlock and a slightly better Mediatek chip compared to the 9A.
Gorilla glass not mentioned on either phone's. I received a screen protector and cover with mine when I bought it.

Awesome to hear, It has been so good to hear such good feedback about this phone in particular, I see takealot does not bundle the eardots with the phone anymore but I do have a good set of wired earphones. I'm looking forward to picking this phone up tomorrow. I was super hesitant because I first had the xiaomi mi 4 on contract awhile ago, and wanted to stay with the mi range, the mi range back then started off being well priced and great value but now some of their phones are going for up to 25k. Most companies usually go that way unfortunately. And besides the price no mi phones are being sold locally anymore. I have the xiaomi bedside lamp, xiaomi car charger, temp and humidity sensor, the ac2350 wireless router and my daughter has the redmi 9c, I also have the wiha/xiaomi screwdriver set. I do enjoy me some xiaomi.myvwife has the mi band 5 and it does everything she needs. Also as most of you are saying spending an arm and a leg on a phone is not worth it considering they need to be replaced within a max of 3 years. I actually feel like I've saved some money and made a good choice, now I can get more nappies for the baby.

Got one 2 weeks ago, very nice so far with the exception of poor voice call reception compared to my previous phone: Huawei P30.

@VoraciousLion But where is your Xiaomi kettle? :giggle:

That's awesome, I wasn't aware of the Wiha/Xiaomi precision screwdriver set. That's sounds/looks sweeet!

My calls are crystal clear on my 9C. Mine has Volte active though on both Sims.
