Should one now be concerned in regards to having access to Google services for example, on Xiaomi devices?

Bit of a weird question, but I'm looking at the Xiaomi Note 9 Pro 128GB, and for the price ~R6000 and performance, is there any phone that comes close?

Not that this ain't a good device, but for a few bobs more, I'd take the Oneplus 7T.
It's around $400 @ the moment.

This is a good question. I guess we'll see going forward. At least Xiaomi bootloaders are easy to unlock, so I'd imagine sideloading Gapps wouldn't be too hard to do should they also pull the plug on Google like Huawei did.

Thanks  Good to know it shouldn't be a total train smash for users.

Just saw this... The 64GB 9 Pro was restocked on Friday at Takealot, and went on special (with the wireless ear buds) for R4999. Although not 128Gb, it does take a memory card. Did you get one by chance?

Not yet, still thinking about it.
If I do, I'll let you know in case you have any questions about the phone.

Got mine for R5000 in November last year. Had to pay R350 to UPS before delivery though as I did not buy from Amazon but from a third party seller. Comparison vs Note 9 Pro:

Edit: Mine even came with a transparent back cover as well as front tempered glass included in the box

Edit2: If you wnat to buy local with a local warranty:

Not in the same way as Huawei. Trump’s executive order bans investment (AIUI at least), and not a complete termination in doing business, it’s also expected that Biden is going to sign a raft of executive orders in his first week reversing a lot of the crap Trump has signed.
