Not that this ain't a good device, but for a few bobs more, I'd take the Oneplus 7T.
It's around $400 @ the moment.
How do the cameras on these phones compared with a Samsung?
Samsung wins for me, the video stabilization is better, photos are clearer. There are a few YouTube videos of comparisons.

This is a good question. I guess we'll see going forward. At least Xiaomi bootloaders are easy to unlock, so I'd imagine sideloading Gapps wouldn't be too hard to do should they also pull the plug on Google like Huawei did.

Good to know it shouldn't be a total train smash for users.Just saw this... The 64GB 9 Pro was restocked on Friday at Takealot, and went on special (with the wireless ear buds) for R4999. Although not 128Gb, it does take a memory card. Did you get one by chance?

Got mine for R5000 in November last year. Had to pay R350 to UPS before delivery though as I did not buy from Amazon but from a third party seller. Comparison vs Note 9 Pro:
