What dialer are guys using?
Im uses the std "phone by google" that was pre installed on my RN9pro

The issue is that searching contacts using the dial pad doesnt work correctly
Lets say I want to call Steven Smith, typing in any letters of the his first name does not bring him up as a contact, although other steves and stevens come up. But it doesnt show all of them at the same time either.
Using his surname to search finds the correct contact. A known issue by looking at the reviews on the play store.

Anyone else experience the same? Its extremely annoying so looking for an alternative (other than true caller).
Any ideas?

Unless it's an A51. One of the worst cameras I've seen
Well the A31 is even worse, it doesn't even have EIS stabilisation for the video. The video samples I have seen look terrible, and that phone costs 5k on special at the moment. For that price the Xiaomi makes so much more sense. The only nice thing about the samsungs is they have AMOLED screens.

What is the burn-in chance on AMOLED panels these days? I've noticed the Google keyboard seems a little burnt in on a Sammy A6 Plus that's in the house, after about 1.5 years of usage. I know older models burnt in much quicker, but any burn-in would quickly outweigh the contrast and saturation benefits of an AMOLED, imho

Not too sure actually, too me I don't think it would be a problem in the 2 to 3 years I would keep the device. I also like having the in screen fingerprint reader and always on display. That's what sells me on the amoled. Oh and also they generally brighter as well so easier to see in sunlight

Can anyone assist here.... I have the AC2350 Xiaomi router and the Xiaomi range extender pro. I have my daughter's devices connected to the range extender, and all seems to be working well, I would however like to enable scheduled access control on either her devices or on the extender. Since only she is connected to the range extender I don't mind if internet access is switched off at the time of my choosing. It seems that even if I have enabled it on the primary router traffic is still allowed through while connected to the range extender. The screenshot is normally where one would enable access control with each device. I however get this message. Screenshot_2021-01-25-17-17-00-666_com.xiaomi.router.jpg

Purchased the 3GB ram / 64GB storage version of the Redmi 9C from Incredible Connection last week.

It's running the global MIUI version 12.0.8

I noticed that VoLTE and VoWiFi are functioning fine when using a Vodacom sim.

When using a MTN sim VoLTE and VoWiFi don't work at all. When using a Cell C sim VoWiFi doesn't work.
Both these sims have been provisioned for the respective services on the respective networks and work fine in my Samsung Galaxy A70.

1) Does anyone know if Xiaomi have different firmware versions for different network operators in order for VoLTE and VoWiFi functionality; similar to Samsung having XFV firmware for Vodacom and XFA firmware for MTN / CellC / Telkom ?

2) Are there any users of the Redmi 9C or other Xiaomi phones who have working VoLTE and VoWiFi functionality on MTN / Telkom / Cell C ?

3) Are there any users of the Redmi 9C noticing the 4G+ symbol on their devices?
I'm only seeing 4G on my device and I'm wondering if this phone supports CARRIER AGGREGATION ?

Thank you

I've exactly the same problem with a 9C and MTN SIM. Won't show 4G or VOLTE.
Now what?

It looks like MTN only supports certain devices with VoLTE and VoWifi

I'm really surprised with how far Xiaomi have come in the last ten years. It is good to see local suppliers and carriers start picking them up to offer, and I am sure it will do lots for the brand sentiment kind of like it did for Huawei a couple of years back.

Anyone that has ordered from giztop that could let me know how much less they declare the item value at, and whether or not this makes all that much difference, let's take a phone valued at 10k for example?

The phone I ordered was 360 dollars and they declared it at 138 dollars I think. Think I paid R740 customs fees

Yeah great phone but recently upgraded so my next phone will be the Mi 11, expected mid Feb already I see...

I considered waiting but the the Mi 11 has a few disadvantages imo, mainly the fact it will have a curved screen, even worse a screen that curves on all four edges. I much prefer a flat screen (and would actually pay extra for one) and the handset price.

The only real upgrade I can see is likely the SD 888 SoC, but I personally don’t think its worth the the likely big price difference.

Is that the Chinese version, and what difference does it make besides the language?
I ordered the Poco F2 Pro global version. I wasn't too sure about the Chinese versions as I didn't want to have any issues. They do load global software but beware of that.

My wife ordered the Mi 10 Lite from them and had such an issue. They sent the Chinese mi 10 lite zoom phone (without asking if she was fine with that) as they didn't have stock of the mi 10 lite global that she ordered. So what they did is shove the global firmware for the mi 10 lite on it, as the zoom version is China only. The problem was that the camera didn't work, just kept crashing. She eventually managed to get a refund through PayPal but took over a month, lost all the customs and return postage that was paid. They just ignore all her emails. Just beware the risks if ordering from them. I was lucky and had no issues.

Not sure if it'll help you, but I got VoLTE to work on a Redmi Note 8 with Telkom by following these codes then manually enabling it in settings

I have had such bad luck recently, I first started with the mi 8 on miphones.co.za, then my friend Diana told me 2 weeks later that the phone was not in stock so that took plenty of phone calls and stress to finally get a refund, I then bought the mi 10 note lite on Amazon, got it quickly but there was an issue with dead pixels on the display, I sent it back (R1080 later) should get the refund back soon excluding the cost to send it back. I then tried the 'more' local route with connected devices and ordered the mi 10 5G, they have been excellent, but I have been informed that the supplier is out of stock, so I'm getting kinda desperate for a phone now and it seems xiaomi is not easy to get, I think I'll give connected devices another day or two to see if the supplier gets stock, and if not I'll settle for a redmi, they seem to be seriously good value for money since I'm using my daughter's old redmi with a cracked screen and its 4 years old.
