So... which one is the one to have?
I'm considering replacements if/when I decide the Nexus 5X no longer does it for me.

Coming from the Nexus 5X I would recommend the Mi5 as a replacement as the specs are a bit of an upgrade, however some members on here have taken a 'downgrade' from more expensive devices to the Redmi Note 3 & 4 models which are fantastic value for money (AlphaJohn has a 4X and is very happy with it) and seem pretty happy with it.

The Mi6 was released next month but may be a while before shops have stock of them. The specs are pretty impressive too, although it is going to be quite pricey for the next few months or so

Depends on requirements, they kinda cover all bases.

Battery live: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/4X
Performance: Xiaomi Mi5
Screen size: Xiaomi Mi Mix 2
Curved Edge: Xiaomi Mi Note 2

Dont go for Mi6 yet as there is some software bugs, but when ironed out it would be close to S8 performance. Which is scary seeing that its half the price.

I don't play a lot of games so performance should be comfortable (No Lag) with long battery life. So Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X was my poisen. 4+ days (No Joke) on a 4X's single charge made me pack the Mi5 back in the box and keep it for a back-up phone.

I just compared some of those models with my 5X... I'm impressed.
I might just jump ship.

My use case involves lots of Whatsapp group chat, fair amount of browsing, Pokemon Go and Pokemon Duel (quite a bit- I use up a full battery charge daily, sometimes twice a day).
And I kinda like the camera on the 5X- don't use it that much but I like what it's capable of.

My biggest issue currently is battery life. Performance is starting to show a bit it's still very usable. And I have a nagging feeling the Type C port is losing it...

I'd say Note 4x or Mi Max if you're looking for battery. Beware Mi Max is a 6incher

Just for the record....the Xiaomi MI MIX 2 is not out yet. The current version is the XIAOMI MI MIX. It will still be another 3 months before the # 2 comes out. There is gossip of what it will look like, but nobody knows for sure yet

Thanx, I always get mixed up between Mi Mix and Mi Max. Both phones I would not even give a second of thought personally.

Note: hmmm Mi Max 2 also not out yet... anyway like I said I dont pay much attention to the big phones.

I'm more than happy with the 5" screen size. I'm not sure I'd like a bigger phone...
So, this dual camera business (Mi5 S+ specifically- although I see it's in the 6" territory). Worth it, or gimmick?

Check out the Mi6 review at about 9:40 and you decide.

Xiaomi are not known for their cameras tho. Going to have to settle for ok to above average cameras.

Coming from the LG G4 this was immediately noticeable on the Note 3

I have the Mi Max. It really is massive. Much bigger than anything I've used. Even coming from a large Huawei Mate 8, this is much bigger.

Great phone though :)

Can not see how people can use such big phones. I normally use phones with flip cover and my Note 4X is already too big that I had to go with a back cover only. Now can you imagine a Mi Max. Hell that thing is just a tad smaller than my E-reader (HP Stream 7) Just nope. :D

Hehe. Yes, I get that a lot. Mine has no cover. I think that would make it a bit too big. It fits in my jacket pocket. And even my jeans (at a squeeze). So for me, it is perfect. And the 6.44 inch screen and giant battery are both glorious!

I think if you're someone that occasionally uses their phone one handed then a bigger phone like the Max would be frustrating although you do have one handed mode that could help. I struggle with my Redmi Note 2 sometimes but since I usually use it with two hands it's not such a big issue.

If they had the specs of the Redmi Note 4 in a Mi5 body I'd snap it up in a heartbeat

Yes, with a baby on the way I've been practicing one-handed. It is not easy, that's for sure... My WhatsApp messages are going to become very short indeed...

I've taught my Gboard a mixture of English and Afrikaans so I use the gesture typing quite often which seems to work pretty well.

I know Gboard also has a one handed mode that I've accidentally entered a few times but I prefer the MIUI implementation of the entire screen as opposed to just the keyboard
