The Official Xiaomi Thread

I get about 1.5 day battery life out of my Note 2
The biggest difference you can make - go to Security app and go through every single app on the list, and change settings for startup, wifi, notifications, location etc.
All the background activity of apps that zap your battery
This. Also the battery reporting of Miui is buggy (whether it's just the Note 2 I'm not sure). You have to charge the device a while after it reaches 100%.

I've tried LineageOS as well as other random ROMs with no success. They are all rather heavy on battery which makes me think mine may be faulty.

The other day my rear speaker distorted as if the speaker was blown...barely audible and very crackly.

Rebooted and the issue went away. If it does it again I'll return it to Takealot for them to shove it :)

I continue to be impressed by the price/performance ratio of Xiaomi products. I know it's not a phone, but I picked up a wifi repeater for just $5 and it works perfectly with just a small extra hassle in setup. Other range extender I've seen go for R350+, so this is seriously good value.

Slightly off topic. Found my next Xiaomi product that im going to buy:

Looking around its about $110, depending on where you buy.

I added two Xiaomi WIFI repeaters to my cart about a week ago with Gearbest, so when my cart gets full enough I can place the order

Do the Xiaomi devices received regular updates or are they like Huawei.

You have 2 Update cycles (Stable and Dev)

Stable increment slowly as expected and Dev(Beta) updates weekly with latest sec patch normally max 2 months out. Flashing Official Dev or Stable is up to you.

One thing to note is that MIUI is such a way that Android version does not really matter as the functionality gets build into MIUI not the core. So if you on MIUI 8.2 your phone acts and behave exactly the same as another on 8.2 regardless if you on Android 4.4 or Android 7.1.2.

My Note 4 had better arrive soon. My Note 2 battery is stuffed! :(

I know :( I tried a factory reset, not even that seems to have helped.

I'm contemplating sending it back to Takealot as it's just over a year old but I think they will probably say it's because of my usage that I am not getting any hours out of it.

I'm sitting here at the Texas Grill Steakhouse in George watching my battery dwindle away... it's downright painful to watch :(

I wonder if I can ask to have my table moved somewhere near a plug point :crylaugh:

I know, its painfull to see with the exact same phone next to me thats just 2 month old, bought for $179

Sometime's its worth it to pay that extra $30 shipping with R310 clearance fee ;)

I have no issue with waiting to be honest, but the dwindling battery life of my current phone is making life a bit difficult right now.

Otherwise I would have been perfectly happy had it arrived even two or three months from now. But living like a leech, constantly looking for 220VAC is not for me

Seems like a 6 month update cycle also. Once you rid yourself of the "must have the latest and greatest" mentality the price cuts and new specs/models doesn't bug you as much. Well, me anyway.

I did it with the HTC One X, Note 3 and then the G4. G4 battery was k*k, 2k screen was over hyped and processor was nothing special. Ok the camera was the shiznit tho... But I was over it. Paying R480pm for that was a waste and for 200mb ffs

I think my mate and I will upgrade every year or so now. Sell our current phones for a fair price and get the latest one at the moment. No contracts... Ever again.

Last phone I got on Contract was a Moto RAZR V3. No Joke. MTN Oob shark bit me so hard on a trip to China that made me go Nope for life. Since then it was pre-paid with bought phone's.

Been cycling my phones every 2 years (HTC/iPhone/Sony and so on)with the last one being a Moto G 3rd gen that I sold for R1500 to buy a Mi5 + Note 4(MTK). Sold the Note for R5K and bought a Note 4X. Thinking of Selling the Mi5 as I don't really need the power and buying another 4X (This time in Black) as a back-up phone for the next 2 years.

My issue on price is not being on top of tech, its about 2 months losing R300 value.

Since the Note 2 have removeable battery.
Do you know any Note 2 user to try their battery to verify the fault ?
