The Official Xiaomi Thread

I have a feeling that Xiaomi is going to ditch Snapdragon on lower to midrange models.

All 3 models of the Note 11 are 5g Mediatek chips.
Hi, Which are the lower brands are you referring to? My wife has a redmi note 9 pro 128Gb.

Not sure whether I agree with the word choice - ditch. With the global shortage of processors the companies launch with any processor they can get and which makes sense. I believe they will continue to launch with both mediatek and snapdragon. As a brand with price very important they will migrate more towards the cheaper mediatek if they believe the quality is in order.
The 2 senior models will NOT be marketed in India as redmi note 11's in India. The junior redmi Note 11 may or may not make it out of China ever.

For those who have purchased the Redmi Note 10 Pro and banks With Capitec, can I just confirm whether the Capitec App works on the Note 10 Pro? I am looking to buy a Note 10 pro for someone as a birthday gift later this month so just want to confirm that the app works. Your response is appreciated.

Huh, why wouldn't it work?

Compelling.

Is there a setting to extend the time that notifications (in general) display on the lock screen? Mine display for about 5 seconds, so in most cases they disappear before I can even pick up the phone. Phone is Redmi 9 on MIUI 12.5.3

As I mentioned last week that I intend buying the Redmi Note 10T as a gift for someone later this month, I was also considering buying it from MIA Africa. If anyone here has purchased from them recently, what is the warranty on their cellphones. Has anyone ever had to claim for a faulty phone under warranty with them and what was the response and process like.
Also for those who purchased from Takelot, same questions as above.
Your feedback is much appreciated.

Is there.any option on these bloody phones (redmi note 10 pro) to disable the option of the phone just automatically connecting to any open WiFi hotspot it sees. While I am driving , it happens so often that I need to turn WiFi off

Also by default , it uses device mac and not random mac which is also fricking irritating. This is how our privacy gets eroded using the 'cheap' phones.

I love my phone, but these little design decisions they make seriously are making me want to to back to Nokia Android one, or Apple

MIA are the official Xiaomi importers. They are part of the Core group which also owns the iStores in SA. You won't have any service issues.

12 month warranty from both Takealot and MIA. You'll get 24 months warranty through Vodacom but then you'll lose the dual sim capability as they software block it.

Thank you for your response.
After posting the question, I saw that Takealot offers 12 month limited warranty. If you click the exclamation mark next it, it pops up with a note indicating "... as defined by the manufacturer. Please consult manufacturer for terms" or something to that effect. If Xiaomi is the manufacturer then who supplies their stock?
On the other hand, MIA Africa claims to be the official importer and supplier of Xiaomi and indicates that they supply Takealot.
Nowhere on the MIA website do they indicate any warranty for their phones though or any that I could find. There was some mumbo-jumbo regarding warranty on their website but none that made any sense. Maybe I just misread what I found.
I have emailed them to ask for clarity on their warranty terms last night, so hopefully I will get an answer today.

I don't have the problem with mine with regards to open wifi networks, must be a setting on your side.
You can randomize the MAC for the wifi hotspot youre connected to, if you're really anal about privacy. Goto "Modify network" at the bottom after tapping onto your wifi for that setting.

Not important for your question, but which phone are you referring too. There is a redmi Note 10T 5g but I dont think that is available in South Africa. There is a Redmi Note 10S and a Redmi Note 10 5G though.

My apologies, it's the Redmi Note 10 Pro. I've been watching too many Xiaomi reviews on Youtube and must have gotten confused for a moment there.
