The Official Xiaomi Thread

Still trying to find a solution to this, maybe it's just so obvious that I don't see it:

Is there a setting to extend the time that notifications (in general) display on the lock screen? Mine display for about 5 seconds, so in most cases they disappear before I can even pick up the phone. Phone is Redmi 9 on MIUI 12.5.3.

Sup guys. Can someone give me the inside scoop on Xiaomi repairs? My mi 8 has a broken screen and I'd prefer to repair it but maybe that's just not cost effective? I'm based in Cape Town but I'm guessing I'll have to send it to jozi? Is it easy enough to do it myself?

I do not think there is repair facilities in SA. Most people just put it in the dustbin and buy a new one...

Maybe time for a upgrade?

Note 8 still chugging along, great battery life.

Helps a lot in loadshedding.
Great phone for price I paid compared to something with same features.
Waiting to see if Note 10 will be on special anywhere

Same here, although my battery life is a bit less than months before. I've had it for nearly two years now, which is the longest I've had any phone if I'm to be honest:p

I ordered a screen replacement for my Mi 9T from zasttra.com recently.
Difficulty to replace it was indeed "High" as was suggested by guides - as the screen and back panel's glue was tough to get through.
That said, I got it done and it's working fine again.

There's a few things that can go wrong though by doing it yourself - perhaps watch the screen replacement process before deciding:

Have my old RNote 3 too.

His battery life was garbage around year 4 running a few custom roms (which became dated) but after installing Havoc OS on there it's now lasting really well.
(I keep it alive as a backup / use it for crap like Whatsapp that I don't want to have on my main phone - then it lasts about 3 days, compared to running down in a day with an older OS)

It's amazing how big a difference the OS has on a phone's batterylife.

Had a Samsung Note4 with stock software that ran down within 6 hours tops.
Took the hassle and ROM'd it a month ago to see if it's the battery that's shot (considering the age it seemed very likely), now it can idle for days.
Wonder how many phones get discarded due to awful battery life which is just due to some software issue.

Thanks

Now it's a toss-up between LineageOS and Havoc-OS

Any suggestions from your side before I take the plunge?
