The Official Xiaomi Thread

Ok that is quite significant.

It's a pity because I need that AOD to be always on. Otherwise I wouldn't have got the phone at all. Especially as it has no notification LED.
Yeah, also would liked to have had it on all the time like my Samsung used to. I have read on other threads that everyone complains about bad battery life when having AOD on all the time with Xiaomi phones.
With regards to LED notification, playing around with aodNotify which uses the front facing camera LED as a notification LED. Unfortunately the free version is very limited in the sense that it only defaults to one colour. The pro version allows different colours for different applications, even for charging the battery.

Had my Note 9S now for about 8 months now. Here are some of my thoughts:
  1. Battery is still fantastic. I absolutely love it. My wife got one at the same time as me and had an issue where it drained the battery under 5 hours but then a restart seemed to fix whatever was eating the battery.
  2. I think the UI absolutely stinks. MIUI just feels cheap. The lack of the app drawer prior to the update really bothered me more than I thought it would. Its better now but still really feels clunky.
    1. The baked in ads just add to the cheap feel of the phone. I spent about 45 mins to an hour trying to turn them off and some still slip through the cracks.
  3. Rather annoyingly I have a cover that keeps activating a notification on my phone that says "please do not cover earphone area" and despite deactivating the notification it keeps popping up.
  4. The moral issues around supporting companies that use spyware that allows CCP to monitor their citizens and/or disappear them still bothers me. Don't know if I will go back to Xiaomi again for this reason alone.
Honestly its the best budget phone out there for price. I want to plug a custom rom onto it and keep it for a while then move back to Samsung.

I keep an eye on Lineage to see when they add support for my phone - nothing yet. They do support the Note 9S though.

Had to change the region to St Helena to get the headset volume up on. Weird why it's reduce on South Africa?

Now it's so loud I can't listen with earphones at max volume because it's so loud.
Do you know how I can open a bank account in St Helena as a South African?

I am so annoyed.

I finally found a phone that is suitable.

The Note 10s

I have watched YouTube videos and read comments from owners.

Cons : buggy software, Mediatek processors = slower updates & lack of custom roms, screen performs weirdly while watching YouTube & it overheats too much.

Bloody hell man.

I really wanted to try something different.

I will have to settle on a Samsung A22 5g.

I don't even like the A22 that much

Doing a quick compare, maybe it is because the Note 10s is using a 12nm processor? I have had no issues with my Note 9T and it's 7nm Dimensity processor.

Got a Mi Band 6 for Xmas and I am very pleasantly surprised with how much it offers. I have the brightness on max so it is readable in sunlight and it uses very little battery when recording workouts. I had to install Zepp and link it to my Mi account to have the Strava syncing going.

Why not Note 10 Pro?

So you have the 5G version of the 9T?

Has it received any updates at all?

Is it a stable experience?

The Samsung A22 5G is 3999 at Game.

It has a Dimensity 700 but is only a Single Sim model.

The A22 4g Dual Sim seems nice.

It will probably become very slow within a year and I like playing games on my phone.

How much do they want for the Note 10 Pro these days? Mine was 4999 with the Mi Band from Cellucity. Enjoying it so far.
The most I will spend is probably R4500.

I want to buy the Note 11 Pro later this year lol

My Band 5 is just over a year old now. Last charged on 12 December (on Day 22) and the battery is on 17%. Screen brightness on medium and notifications, etc on normal settings.

PS: I use the Notify for MI Band app and it has many useful feature compared to Mi Fit.

For the 120W charging?

0-100 in 15 minutes. Pretty impressive. Wonder what tech they use to keep the battery alive long-term when charging at those speeds.
I just want it for the new "cooling tech" and JBL sound.

I'm going to end up buying a Samsung cos I really want the Note 11 Pro later this year.

Samsung phones are so underspecd.

The Ram is always faster on Xiaomi and has bigger storage.

Samsung's only advantage is Amoled screens, optimisation & regular updates.

Yea they update your phone over 3 years but my current phone is extremely slow.

I have a Huawei Band 6.

It vibrates when I receive a WhatsApp notification or a phone call.

You can probably do the same on a Xiaomi band. Screenshot_20220102-153912_Chrome.jpg

Do any of these watches allow for NFC Payments?
I'm stuck on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Active 2 because of Samsung Pay.

There is no groundbreaking tech out there, it's the industry's dirty secret. They are hoping we upgrade our phones often enough for the degradation to not become an issue.
