The Official Xiaomi Thread

Hope someone can help. Have a redmi note 4. All going well until I put a second SIM card in. My primary SIM is FNB and the second one is an international one. As soon as the second one was put in - something happened and my phone refuses to use mobile data even though the FNB SIM is set as primary - I reset APN settings and they do match what FNB says it should be.

I removed the international SIM, but the phone still doesn't use data - despite me triple checking everything. Reboots ,.etc also done.

I am now screwed and can only use WiFi for data. I hope I don't need to reset my phone. I am not enjoying my Xiaomi recently

Edit: I do have data available on my package. 3gb left but can't use it. SMS and phone calls work.

Are you able to use data from a different sim card perhaps?

Can't test right now. About to travel. Will see tomorrow when I am in Europe . Seriously regretting trying to use the dual SIM feature. If i have to reset this phone, again - I am going to another vendor.

hi all,

so i've decided to get a xiaomi mi 6 and a second mi box
i am looking at geekbuying bangood and gearbest. which is confusing me
they all have different prices varying from R4200+- to over R6000

which way would be the most efficient and cost effective way to do this ?

Anyone facing an issue with music or video playback glitching? I tried soundcloud, Google play music and even the music player with some songs I have stored and still have an issue.

Hi, a further update a week later.

I had double checked this and those setttings seems to do nothing.

So last Monday, when I was in Europe - none of the SIMs worked (I can't even make phone calls) even though everything is authorised/enabled. I did the only thing I could think off (and what I didn't want to do) and factory reset and started again. Then it worked i.e. mobile data worked via EU SIM and I could make phone calls using the EU SIM. The FNB SIM (SIM 1) was only enabled for SMS roaming so I couldn't test to see if data would work but all my SMSs were coming in. I could reactivate Whatsapp, Mi Account, etc

All was well until I came back today. Since everything appeared to work, I changed Dial + Internet from EU SIM to FNB SIM (while phone was in flight mode - and I was on plane) ... some funny warning came up which I had to accept. I land and both SIMS register on network. FNB to FNB (get 3G signal at OR Tambo) and the EU SIM registers on MTN. - NOTHING works. The EU SIM which previously worked when it was in a Nokia refused to use data even though roaming was enabled.

So I back to the same problem again. As a test, I removed both SIMS, and then put in another SIM from MTN in SIM SLot 1. Phone registers and data works. I put ononly the FNB sim back in - nothing ! SMSs work but I can't make phone calls - call ends immediately, and data doesn't work.

So to 'fix' this fsck up of an issue, I will have to reset my phone and do everything again ... It is ridiculous.. I think I am done with Xiaomi - for trying to use their features. There is some bug in the software controlling the dual sim feature that is disabling something which we as the uses can't access and it is not enabling it again. It is definitely remembering something about the SIMS becuase new network SIMS seem to work with no issues but putting in the old ones - is blocked.

Edit: @CamiKaze: Can you post your APN settings for the FNB SIM on your phone? I wonder if mines is screwy...

Edit Post 2: I just tried FNB SIM 1 and MTN SIM 2. I then set FNB SIM 1 as phone and MTN SIM2 as Internet. In this mode, Internet works on phone. Switching Internet back to FNB - results in once again no mobile data. I also can't make phone calls on FNB network even though I have Airtime and 3GB data as per *111# but SMSs work. Could it be possible that the SIM is borked?

I've used Parallel Space before, it works...

If you can handle the ads that is and slightly slower. It sure does work! Buying the Ad free (In App Purchase) version is worth it.

I used it on Facebook and Tiny Tower.

I see the new Note 5 has been released I wonder how long before we can get it locally.

What Custom roms are you all using at the moment on the note 4 , my LG G3 is wrecked been wanting to get a note 4 but might wait it out for the 5?

I don't quite get the xiaomi love as there seems to be several well known issues reported on the internet by owners and reviewers,

1. Sound cutting out during voice calls.
2. Dual sim issues.
3. Focus breathing recording videos where it can't keep continues focus and it constantly pulses in and out to focus. This also affects focus speed for normal photos at times.
4. Noisy camera especially in low light situations

These seem to be very common issues going back some time and spanning different models and no fix for the issues.
