The Official Xiaomi Thread

If you're suffering with the ads on Mi apps, go to Settings for that app and disable App Recommendations. Most, if not all, ads will stop.

Where would be the best place to find a Xiaomi for under R3000 locally, preferably a store that accepts eBucks?

My mom's phone just died and she urgently needs a replacement :(

Takealot?

Redmi Go should suffice as a "mom phone"

Edit: Not sure on ebucks but still good prices

My experience, Takealot is cheaper and faster on the delivery. When I ordered my Mi Max, I waited for a month from Mia Africa.

Thanks all

I spoke to my mother again, and she said she will try and take it to the local cell repair shop to see if it can be fixed.

It sounds like the phone reboots every time she receives an SMS (oddly) so it could maybe be a SIM issue? The handset is a Vodafone Smart Platinum 7.

They are a couple hours' drive away so I can't just pop on over and assist.

It is a pity that the local stores don't really carry a wide variety of phones, but I will have to make do with what they have available.
