The Official Xiaomi Thread

That is some really good zooming there for a phone camera! I know how difficult it is to get close to those dassies, even if they are somewhat used to humans there all the time.

Upgraded to 11.0.3 and I don't understand these notification icons. I know one is Google assistant but it can't be cleared. What are the others? I have app autostart off and location is off.

I'm no expert but I think the one is location and the other is security - Also they should just be there to provide info and I highly doubt that they cant be cleared - Have you expanded the notification page to see what each item says or states? There could be an app requesting location permissions etc

Thanks phly. I'm such a retard. All this time I was trying to press on these notifications instead of swiping down. Anyway this what they were.

I got the redmi note 8 pro last week and I am really loving this phone.

In terms of value for money, I don't think there is anything better. My cousin bought it for me from Amazon in the US and it cost roughly R3 620.

There are lots of things I enjoy about the phone but the best thing is the battery. I am getting two full days out of the battery with fairly heavy usage.

Single or dual sim usage?

Anyone got Android 10 on their Mi 9T ? See they have started rolling it out.

Anyone know a reliable store where I can get a Mi Band 4 from?

Bought from smartphoneshop multiple times in the past, they seem reliable. Actually bought a mi band 4 in November when they were on special for R699, they are now R749 but sold out. Keep an eye though, they usually stock up again quite quick when demand is high

Edit: see connecteddevices has stock but unfortunately it is special import meaning you wait on average 9 days - recently bought a google home mini from them which took 9 days. They have it for R799 incl delivery.

one thing that irked me about MIUI is the absence of an app drawer - then I found the following - bad video but, it works like a charm on my Mi9:-

What do you guys use to deal with in app ads? Or is there a way to block ads from showing in apps?

Really got to get round to flashing this POS with non Xiaomi crap.

Anyone had this before. I have a Telkom data sim in the card... data no longer works.
1.) Take the sim out the phone, put it in another device and data works
2.) Take the other devices Telkom sim and put it in the phone - data works.
3.) Put original sim card back, data no longer works.

Doesn't make a difference if its in the 1st or 2nd sim slot

May or may not help somebody.

Found out something interesting on my Redmi 4A.

Every single app is fine, but sometime there are times when something would struggle for a while.

But youtube was always buffering when on LTE. Always. On a scale of good -- bad -- ugly the scale would go off the ugly side and breaks.

Funnily enough on wifi it was fine.

Or even when I enabled a hotspot and connected another device, YT streams fine on the other device.

Then I discovered that YT is fine when I enabled openVPN and was on LTE on my Xiaomi.

So.

Lowest common denominator was IPv4, so I went to the APN settings and disabled all things IPv6.

Jury is still out, but YT seems to be behaving now.
