The Official Xiaomi Thread

Does the active 2 then make more sense, better battery life, sleeker design, newer features - and being future proof to some extent? Have always loved the elegant but simple look of the active 2. Ben 10 watches worry me due to how huge they are and the rugged looks despite steller batter life that spans weeks.
Yeah if you can get hold of them for a good price. The Samsung watches weren't even on my radar until I saw the deal. But if you want NFC pay I think Samsung is pretty much your only option. Especially for standard bank.

You don't realize how convenient paying with your watch is until you have that option available.

Active 2 definitely has more features. its double the price though. The battery life on the samsung's is like 1-2 days though. Why not look at a Huawei watch?
If you want the ultimate battery life look at the Amazfit GTR:

The looks are what sold me on the samsung when I first even thought of owning a watch months back. Then once I did more research I came to find out that there are so many factors to consider. OS, Battery life, looks, features etc. The ones with longer battery life have other features stripped. i.e you can't reply to notifications/messages or even always on display or raise to wake.

For me being able to reply to messages, the weight and looks, NFC and some extra bells & whistles are all I want but then again it will be my first smartwatch purchase and I'm just trying to balance price and feature set.

That's why I gave up on a long battery life if I want a smart watch that is smarter than most.

I had the amazfit watch and really liked it but it was replacing a fitbit blaze and I just felt really let down by the fitness monitoring app for the amazfit and other apps compared to fitbit. So got rid of the amazfit and got myself the fitbit Versa.

One feature on it that I wasn't really that into was the NFC payment from the watch and boy do I love it now on my watch.

Only thing is that Fitbit only allow for FNB Visa, Investec and Nedbank professional banking (VISA), lucky I have a professional Nedbank account so it works on my watch. Absolutely love it.

Looks cool but check this ... surely you will admit the sammy has the looks department nailed down

Close but personally I prefer the Amazfit (they manufacture watches for Xiaomi, and I am a big Xiaomi fan).
I bought some rubber straps for my Amazfit and also swim with it. I also like all the downloadable watch faces available for my Amazfit.

Amazfit is R1800 on Banggood, that is pretty hard to beat.

Yeah good price but shipping and customs need to be added, got mine for R2100 landed in March last year. There is also a GTR 2 out now, so think the pricing on the GTR will come down.

No one selling the xiaomi redmi 9 pro max?
If I'm not mistaken..

There is no 'Max' model here, it's just the 'Pro'. The 'Max' was used in India because they called the Note 9S, the 9 Pro, so then they had to call the actual Note 9 Pro, the 9 Pro Max, to differentiate.

Worth it coming from a p20 lite? I don't need phone for gaming, but I do require dual sim, nfc and fingerprint reader. Decent photos would be nice at same or better than the p20 lite. I don't need dslr levels, for that I can use my actual camera.

You can always use GSMArena as a guideline to compare phones.

It does look like the 9 Pro will suit you, having all the features you mentioned needing. As a bonus, it can still play games well with its Snapdragon 720g (Adreno 618 GPU) chipset, if ever you wanted to.

Hello guys. Hopefully getting my Redmi 9C tomorrow. Just want to ask you guys, I came across complaints online today about MIUI having issues with receiving push notifications. Only when you open the app does the notification come through. Have you guys had this kind of issue on your MIUI OS phones? Should I be worried about it?

If you don't get notifications on a specific app, just ensure that "auto start"is set to on for that app and also switch off battery optimisation for the app.

Generally an issue on the Chinese ROM as far as I've read. Never had an issue on any Global Rom with the 4 Xiaomi's I have owned.

As others have said, Xiaomi is quite hectic with battery optimisations by default. Took me a while to get all the settings right for the notifications but everything works as it should.

Does anyone know where to buy an original Xiaomi battery?

I contacted MIA, the distributors for Xiaomi in South Africa but they don't stock parts and said I should try Takealot

Wonder if the MI 11 or Pro will be officially brought in?

Looks really good
