The Official Xiaomi Thread

Hey guys,
I don't know much about Xiaomi phones, had to buy a Redmi 9A 32GB for my wifes mother this morning.
Currently it's downloading V120.19.0QCDMIXM update.
I see it came with some unnecessary apps installed.
After the update completes I'm going to factory reset.
Is it safe to remove most of the apps she wont need?
If you can remove them by unistalling then do that. If you can't then go into the app settings and disable them. You could debloat your phone using a 3rd party uninstaller but you never know what apps are necessary for core OS functions.

Some of these SA companies haven't gotten the memo regarding depreciation. Screenshot_20220404-164115_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220404-164126_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220404-164321_Chrome.jpg

Is the Poco X3 Pro still worth it?

Does it still experience ghost touches and other issues?Screenshot_20220404-165010_Chrome.jpg

My biggest issue is the camera app.
I flashed pixel experience on my Mi 9. The stock camera app is garbage, can't use all the lenses either.

Flashed miui back.

@ All, if you run custom roms what camera app do you use??
Hi Zuner, thanks for the feedback. Other than the lack of good camera software, what was your experience like using Pixel Experience? Which version MIUI did you re-install? Global or EU Rom?

I only had PE for a couple hours, I still had to get used to Android 12 changing colours everywhere, My biggest gripe was Camera and no face unlock which i use a lot. Not sure if Vanilla Android has face unlock didn't really give it a chance once I couldn't get the camera sorted. I would probably switch back to PE if I managed something with the camera, it felt fast.

I've always been on Global rom of Miui this was a gearbest purchase.

So with the Note 10 Pro still sitting at R5500 and the Note 11 (unknown which variant) being launched by Xiaomi SA tomorrow, looks like whichever spec it is will be overpriced....

Launch source:
Note 11 Pro with the Mediatek G96 = R6499
Note 11 = R5299

Both downgrades over the Note 10 Pro. Only the Pro gets 67w upgraded charging.

Most of the review videos I have been watching claims that there are very bugs in PE and that the best camera app to use is GCAM. I'd like to try and flash the PE rom on my phone and had a look at the process and steps but am scared to attempt it. Have to build up more confidence before attempting. What was the process like for you?

I have a history of flashing phones, so it was straight forward to me.
Just remember that when you unlock the bootloader it formats the phone so you lose everything. So make sure you have backups of your data.
Also there is a waiting period with Xiaomi to be granted access unlock the bootloader, so make sure you apply for that.

You can revert back to Miui using their own tool and rom which locks the bootloader again, so you can revert fully if that is a concern.
Also, If you revert, consider unlocking the bootloader afterwards again, so you can flash a recovery to be able to do Nandroid backups for future testing of roms and reverting back with ease.

Anybody have or can recommend this :

I currently have a Zyxcel fibre router which came with my contract, thought I'd ditch it and get 2 of these instead, to try and spread my wifi around the house a bit better.

Also got the Zxycel router and there's coverage in most parts of the house so just ordered the single unit to replace the zyxcel and maybe increase the signal strength

What's a decent slow charge set up to use with a Poco M3? Would a 2 amp 5 volt charger and a cable rated at 2 amps be OK to use?

I have a very weird problem with my Note 8. I will hear my phone ringing, but the "call app" will not appear so I can't answer it. When I go to the call register nothing is listed. Inevitably I go and check whatsapp and someone has tried to call me or message me and am wondering why I'm not answering.

Any idea what may be causing this? Have tried looking and no-one else seems to have this issue.

Is do not disturb on?
