The Official Xiaomi Thread

The Xiaomi is OLED and the LG is fancy LED but still LED which is inferior in every way to proper OLED (except viewing angles which isn't relevant for a TV).

If the Xiaomi is decent quality, I'd expect it to sell like hot cakes. Put one next to any LED tv in a properly-lit display area and it would look much better. Just the nature of the technology.

Sounds great on paper (web?), but my 66 year-old eyes can't even tell the difference between 720p and full HD at 4 meters from the TV. I reckon that a large percentage of the world's population is in the same boat, but they are for some weird reason scared to say so...

PS - viewing angles are very important for TV viewing. If you don't agree, then you are probably a person who sits alone directly in front of the TV every night

OLED TVs can be viewed with no luminance degradation at drastic viewing angles — up to 84 degrees.

168 degrees is a big enough window unless you're putting seats behind the tv.

Look, I’m sorry. I could have been more tactful, my intention was not to insult anyone - I merely felt that I dodged a bullet and hoped to warn others so that they wouldn’t make the mistake I very nearly did.

I did not mean to upset the Xiaomi faithful, those of bargain-loving standards-dispensing virtue.

I just figure that you are already upset so it makes no difference if I change course now.

Also, when Elon buys this forum you will have to read my posts again.

You cultists.

Eish, angry little chappie this one ........

Hi All!

Long time Xiaomi user (My Note 7 still going strong) and bought a Note 10 Pro for the wife about two months ago and she loves it!

Now it is time for the little one's upgrade (buying with own pocket money so would not want to waste money)....

Contemplating between the 9T (on special today at Takealot for R3199 normally R3599) and the normal Redmi 10 (R3799). Was hoping that the 10 would be on the Orange Friday sale but no luck...

Any suggestions, or would you rather bite the bullet and go for the Note 10S (R4599 on special as well but thinking this might be a bit tooo much for an 12 year old)?

I've learnt that when it comes to cellphones and most tech, nothing is "tooo much" for a 12 year old and teen. They will run circles around most adults. :)

I see my Mi 9 was excluded from these latest updates, when I get time I'll be trying to find a camera app which supports the wide angle camera as I use that often, after the main cam.
Then I'll be switching to pixel experience.

Flashed my Note 4x (Mido) to ArrowOS now, had pixel experience on it but ran like trash and was discontinued from pixel experience developers.

My 9A and Note 9T are on 12.5 / Android 11 - granted the 9A is dog slow unless you set the battery to Performance mode.

MIUI13 on the 11T Pro, if anyone was wondering.
