The Official Xiaomi Thread

I'm planning to buy the Redmi Note 11.

Not sure if it is worth paying an extra 1000 bucks for the pro version as I don't care about 5g.

Any other reason I should go for the pro version?

Pro version has better refresh rate at 120hz vs 90hz of Note 11 (screen works more smoothly)
Pro version has better better screen quality/brightness at 1200nits vs 1000nits of Note 11.
Pro version has better camera at 108mp vs 50mp of Note 11
Pro version has better faster charging at 67w fast charging vs 33w fast charging of Note 11

If you dont care about 5g there should be a Redmi Note 11 pro without the 5g that should be a bit cheaper.

I think the Pro version is also a slightly bigger screen? 6.67" compared to 6.4"?

I really hate how Xiaomi have been steadily flooding the market with sidegrades, renames and rereleases, it makes it so much harder to keep track of what's new and what isn't
Very intentionally meant to confuse. Get good reviews for a product, create a half dozen variations so eventually some people who read the reviews for the original product end up buying the inferior version by mistake and that’s where they make their profit.

It’s only a little different to what Hisense does, selling inferior versions of televisions that get good reviews in the US under the same name in other countries.

So wife's Redmi 9T started with apps crashing regularly yesterday. She decided to reboot and when it rebooted it just died and would not start up again at all.

Anybody experienced this before and know about a DIY fix? Or repair centre that will be able to get it running again?

Or worst case scenario at least get all the media transfered from it?

We took to it to our local Pakistani shop but he didn't look very confident and took a wild guess that it is software related and he will try and reload the software. But can't promise anything and was quite sure she would lose all media and data.

Thanks guys.

If still under warranty then you know what to do. if not, try get it into recovery mode and take it from there:

Out of warranty 2months ago :X3:

And it won't even start up into recovery mode. No response at all when trying to power it up.

It does however give the connecting to new device jingle on my laptop when I plug it in. But device does not show up in My Computer at all.

At this stage we are just trying to recover the photos and media on the device. Wife hasn't made backups for the past 6 months

Been using a Redmi 8 since Jan 2020 and the minor niggles are starting to add up. More than anything MIUI is really annoying and ram management is horrible. Don't get me wrong its a bulletproof phone and the battery life is still expectional. But given its budget phone with a budget soc, everyday performance has taken a hit. Alot of freezing and delays even when answering a call.

Xiaomi has value for money but I don't think my next phone would a Xiaomi.

On what software version was this phone?
Last app/update installed?

A friend of mine has the redmi note 10 pro that he got from Vodacom. This is however still stuck on MIUI 12.5 (MIUI Global 12.5.4 stable RKFZAVC) - this is still Android 11.
Vodacom support claims any MIUI upgrades are pushed by Xiaomi and not by Vodacom. Xiaomi says the ROM is a proprietary custom ROM from the network provider and they do not have/will not push an update to MIUI 13 and he should contact his Network provider. I was thinking of loading the MIUI 13(Sweet) ROM myself but the TWRP forums mentioned that OTA updates would not work if we do that. Has anyone custom loaded MIUI 13 with OTA updates still working? if so, can you please direct me in the right direction?

I have tried to update using ROMS (incremental, Full, fastboot and recovery) from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/ but cant seem to get it to work. Have enabled developer options and advanced options under the about phone option but get the result of "can't verify update. update via USB instead"

Lol you're complaining about a budget phone you got 2 and a half years of usage out of. People are crazy.

2 and a half years for a budget phone is great. I would suggest that a budget phone's software should never be updated. Generally, system updates slow down a phone and it is much more noticeable on the entry-level models, due to the slower chipset.

Tried a few data recovery methods but none of the software could detect the phone or storage.

So as a last ditch attempt I MacGuyvered it. Had nothing to lose anyway.

Watched a few YouTube videos and apparently it is a common fault with the Power Management Integrated Circuitry.

As per YouTube instructions.

Opened up and took the phone apart to expose bottom of motherboard.
Opened up the PMIC module.
Applied solder flux and heated it up with wife's hairdryer (no heat gun here).
Put everything back together and lo and behold it started up again.

Seems to be working fine but I'm just copying all data and media over to laptop. Not trusting that the fix will last.

Anyone that can help me with a Mi 11 ultra that's stuck on Miui 12.5 that doesn't wanna update
It downloads the file then after installing it says failed to install and wants to download again.
Phone works fine but would like to update it to Miui 13.
