Doesn't seem worth at that price (ZAR) seems massively cheaper abroadThat is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G in the middle, Pro 5G on the right. Pro plus = R16500
Compare the pro 4G with the Samsung A35 which is freely available for R7000 (128gb) while the Vodacom one is for 512 GB.

Got the A35, what a crap phone. First 2 months fine. Its slowed down considerablyThat is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G in the middle, Pro 5G on the right. Pro plus = R16500

Hmm, I'm compelled to not beleive you.Got the A35, what a crap phone. First 2 months fine. Its slowed down considerably
My ooookay Xiaomi is still faster. Just the battery dies quicker after 4yrs + of daily use
The A35s in screen finger print sensor is sloooow
Scrolling is slow
Opening apps is slow
Most recently, the dialler just crashes with no crash report like on Xiaomi
Same with random apps
The Samsung gets Hot for no reason
Ram usage goes up to 4GB then I have to clear
Scroll through TikTok for 30 videos and it starts stuttering till you clear RAM again
Can't believe I went back to Samsung again.
You're right. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is currently available on Amazon and can be landed here in SA for R8,900 compared to the R16,500 that Vodacom wants. I know we're generally ripped off in SA when it comes to phones, but that's absolutely ridiculous! How can they possibly justify it?Doesn't seem worth at that price (ZAR) seems massively cheaper abroad

I've owned Samsung A-series phones for a few years now and been thinking of switching to a Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G over the A35 for my next purchase.Hmm, I'm compelled to not beleive you.
I had a Mi 9, and now have a A34, obviously much slower phone since the CPU is a big downgrade, but the phone acts how it should for its spec, are you maybe not expecting too much ?
Never had RAM issues, fingerprint reader is slow sometimes i'll give you that.
No crashing
No getting Hot (This is a big problem if you download dodgy apps)
I've never cleared ram the OS manages that.
Xiaomi have been awesome but lately the price to performance is not as good anymore which is why i moved to sammy, that and much long software support.
My Mi 9 has a snapdragon 855 very capable but they cut it's support a while ago.
The A35 does have the Exynos 1380 which was experiencing heat issues on the A54 model, Samsung did say they did supposedly fix that problem. But who knows, the Exynos chips do run hotter then the other chips, the A34 runs the Mediatek 1080 chip which doesn't have those issues.Hmm, I'm compelled to not beleive you.

Well it's not only just the lower IP rating, the no 5G, it's also lower cpu performance, older OS (still on 13), probably no updates in reality, may or may not have NFC (market dependant).I've owned Samsung A-series phones for a few years now and been thinking of switching to a Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G over the A35 for my next purchase.
Of course there's the caveat of lower IP rating and no 5G, but do you reckon software support will be a real problem?
Also concerned about having issues with MS Intune device enrollment for work apps.
I'll be pulling the trigger on the A35 then, NFC and device enrollment are non-negotiable for me. Seems that there aren't any other options around the 7k price point in the market.Well it's not only just the lower IP rating, the no 5G, it's also lower cpu performance, older OS (still on 13), probably no updates in reality, may or may not have NFC (market dependant).
The 4G series of phones from Xiaomi are basically like the bottom of the tier they don't have anywhere near the spec of the real Note 13s
Not that I've seen, though just be wary of the Exynos on the A35 it apparently can get quite warm, Samsung seem to fix it and break it every so often with updates. The A54 went through a cycle like that.I'll be pulling the trigger on the A35 then, NFC and device enrollment are non-negotiable for me. They seem to have fixed the thermal throttling issues over the A54 which is a good sign:Not that I've seen, though just be wary of the Exynos on the A35 it apparently can get quite warm, Samsung seem to fix it and break it every so often with updates. The A54 went through a cycle like that.

Some people have still moaned, so it might still be around on some models, but reviewers have said it seems to be better than the A54, which did improve over time as well. They seem to have fixed the thermal throttling issues over the A54 which is a good sign:
