A) for me.
 
The Mokka X just looks so boring though. All it's competitors, HR-V, CX-3, C-HR, Creta, Qashqai all have vastly superior styling.
 
Agreed, well it could have been worse if you think of those boring Tiguans and Defenders on the road today. But not everyone wants to drive a supersized Hot Wheels™ car.
 
I personally think the Coffee X styling works well. It's cohesive.

The interior of the Coffee X takes a big step up vs the non-X Coffee.

Agreed. Think it's a nice looking car, both inside and out, especially with the larger sportier rims.
Reviews suggest the drive is a real let down though.

I suppose it is less 'boy racer'.

Reviews seem to say it's pretty decent. Has all the features you could want, nicely upgraded interior, more practical than the cx3 or chr, with an engine that will not lose power at altitude like the hrv.

I must say though there's one piece of tech that's nice in the cx3 even if the car is a bit small.

They call it 'Smart City Brake Support'. The car will automatically brake for you to avoid collisions under 80km/h. Works with pedestrians and in reverse.

Maybe it's just my Japanese car bias showing, but it feels like one of those situations where your head tells you go one way, and heart pulls you another.

Also no one talking about the Qashqai?

Just because the fine folks of MyBB do not talk about the Cashcow does not mean it's not loved. It's always been a good seller for Nissan internationally & locally.

Having said that Nissan SA does a relatively poor job in creating awareness/interest for this good product.

Hopefully that changes with the MY2018 update.

Summary

Of course, the market upheaval created by General Motors and Chevrolet's exit from South Africa, and the subsequent rationalisation of the dealer network that distributes (and provides after-sales support for) Opel, is no fault of the German brand and it would be unfair to label the Mokka X a marginal purchasing proposition because of it. Granted, it may not be the newest compact family car available in the South African market, but it represents excellent value for money (we could not think of any feature that we would have liked to add to the standard specification), plus it comes replete with a 5-year/120 000 km warranty and 5-year/90 000 km service plan. With a list price of R357 400, the 1.4 Cosmo manual is a good deal.

However, in between now and the conclusion of General Motors' withdrawal from the local market, you can expect very enticing sales incentives on (soon to be former, or discontinued) GM products, which will apply to Opel too. If ever X marked the spot, there are bargain deals to be made.
