Exclusivity. Forcing you to use a vastly inferior client to steam/gog,ect.

Exclusivity is only ok for me if you produce the game yourself, so have no issues with origin,ect exclusives. Have a major issue with a company throwing around fortnite $$ to secure deals and doing nothing for the consumer...

Yeah, was quite surprised to see that it's available via Gamepass. Not a bad deal for R70 a month!
 
The game is already out in the wild. Time to see how the anti-Epic protesters go about it. I will probably buy the game next year in any case when the roadmap on new content is clear. I did the same with The Witcher 3 and will do the same with Cyberpunk 2077.

Glad I didn't pre-order Wildlands 2, /cough, Breakpoint.

Gamepass, it is a bargain IMHO.

Really? Well, that's not bad at all. I was thinking of getting The Outer Worlds for my PC as I've been playing on my PS4 and my rather expensive gaming PC is just sitting idle.

Of course, the only draw back is you don't have physical copy and they could pull the game from the library any time they wanted to I imagine?
And obviously you only have access to games a slong as you subscribe.

The out in the wild version was out something like 14 hours ago, I saw a lot of people complaining they could pirate it before they even got their official codes.

I believe MS had an earlier preload IIRC. Those who pirate The Outer Wilds by mistake, it is a nice game. My kid plays it.

They launched it for PC earlier this year, and if you had a massive sub you could have leveraged the 1$ promotion for extending all of your years for next to nothing for a maximum of 3 or 5 years IIRC.
 
The Epic launcher is actually quite refreshing compared to Steam.

Steam will be updated sooner than later. I like Steam how is, but there are areas which need to be more seamlessly integrated. A month or two ago the Epic launcher was still pretty bare, but they are now going to interlink with Humble so I guess The Trove will also be readily available through the Epic launcher or so I predict.

The Epic Store, now that needs a lot of work. They are falling behind their roadmap,

As I have noted, there is a lot of patenting, especially trolling, going on in those features which are hampering a lot of the developers for achieving their goals.
 
It's silly to not use both Steam and Epic. Epic gives away games for free every week or two. And between the two you can usually find a good deal on most games if you watch things for a while. Publishers can publish on any platform they feel like. There's no laws around this afaik. It's only mildly annoying when they jump ship halfway. But only 'annoying'. Not a train smash. What's the big deal anyway?

As anti-epic (won't say I'm protesting about it though) I will not be folding and as it stands I may not even get it when 1 year exclusivity is over.
Don't like the way they do business and frankly, don't want to support developers who support it. (exception of course being companies who launch their own games on their own platform exclusively like Ubisoft and EA for example.)

Just one month to go for RDR2 PC and I will forget that this game even exists anyway.
