The Oven Trick

Yeah....I don't think Id be so comfortable selling a post-baked card but ok lol.

u guys saying that after baking the card heats up more than b4?

that doesnt rly make sense, unless u aren't re-attaching stuff properly :)

No I mean an old GPU runs hotter than a new one, so when it gets hot enough to make the solder joints fail...it will fail again even after u reseal the joints.

So unless u get an aftermarket cooler for it, or lower the volts somehow, it will break very soon again.

eg my 5 yr old 9250 which i fixed, use to run fine on a passive cooler....now it needs a 80cm fan...the oven trick worked of course, but such low end cards arent suppose to get hot enough for the joints to melt....while idling on desktop in XP

why not use the oven trick,
and then do the water trick to cool it down/
when it comes out soaked, use the towel trick to dry it,
and then stick it in the fridge (fridge trick)

it might just work!

i remember freezing empty phone cards used to give u like an extra Rand lol :D

Guys iv used this trick on 2 xbox 360's motherboards as iv never had a current RROD fix last for more then a few months or even weeks. Insulated the caps/ports/eject buttons like crazy with some old towls/tinfoil and press stick on the buttons. Set oven to 230 degrees, baked for 8min. Let it cool down, unwrapped the insulation and luckily no swolled or popper capacitors. Been going strong for days already playing MW2 and Dragon Age :)

Thought "Ahh screw it ... ". I had an old 7900GT in the garage. Tried it ... EPIC FAIL. About 3 minutes into the process, bits and pieces started falling from the card. Wish I had taken pics. Was quite funny. Didn't smell too good either. Well, I won't be trying this again soon :-) Anyone for roasty toasty PCB?
