Yes, no BIOS flash required for that board.

OK well then the R400 price difference is a no brainer then especially for future upgrades.

I am hoping this PC will last for at least 5 years - literally only used for emails and quotes (word and excel) so im sure it should be able to last for min 5 years?

No doubt in my mind, I would just add more RAM later or maybe go 8GB now seeing as the board only has two slots.

Yeah still considering whether I add more RAM now or only later. But even if I just add an extra 4GB in next couple of years it should still be more than OK.

I'm looking at building a PC in the next month or so but stock of the i7 8700 (not k) seems scarce. Does anyone in the PC trade have any info on when it will be available?

Thanks. I've seen the i7 8700 on Rebeltech and Mineaway but am wondering when this part will be more widely available so I don't end up ordering from too many places and spending more on delivery.

Just order from Rebeltech then, they have great service and their prices are usually lower than the other vendors.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to sign up at Rebeltech. Just wish their site had better filters for parts - their list of memory list is huge for example and it's hard to navigate on my tablet.

I received feedback from Evetech that they are expecting stock of the i7 8700 in 2 to 4 weeks. The same for the cheap GTX 1080 that I was looking at.

I just sort by price, low to high.

Wrt Evetech I'll just leave this here https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showth...orrible-service-and-unfair-business-practices

How about Wootware? They are within driving distance from me if I want to collect parts and they sell Phanteks cases that I'm considering.

110% legit, I would rate them #1 in the country.

It turns out I could hardly find anything on the Rebeltech site because their site lumps parts together without subcategories on Mobile - much better now that I'm borrowing a PC to look.

Just the box. I have a keyboard, mouse and monitor, but the old box was stolen during a late 2017 robbery so I have nothing to carry over from that unfortunately.

Advice / tips needed, please!

I've decided to upgrade my 8 year old PC due to things just starting to fall apart (USB ports dead / broken), old IDE HDD's breaking, my SSD just suddenly dying without warning).

Components that can be carried over:
GTX 970
Corsair TX 750W PSU (worth it to keep it? Especially as I'm looking for some retailer to prebuild)

New components required:
Case - Not much preference. Nothing flashy required. Maybe easy to reach USB ports.
Motherboard - No idea. There are so many. Z370 what?
CPU - I believe the I5-8400 is good if it can be found. Other recommendations failing me finding one for sale?
RAM - 8GB, DDR4
O/S Drive - NVME for speed? I like my O/S to feel really snappy.
Keyboard / Mouse combo. My Razer DeathAdder and Lycosa are at their end.

What I don't need:
Monitor(s)
Speakers

I don't have a need for a new GPU right now. The 970 caters well for what I play. I just want to have a very fast general usage experience. I'd like for it to be prebuilt as well.

Willing to spend 10k-15k. Looking forward to your advice / tips. Thanks guys.

^, are you sure your PSU is okay? Those other parts failing might be PSU-related.

Think it's okay. Anyway to check? Had a few power failures that last few weeks. Think that's what killed off my components.
