You'll be able to get Windows 10 for R450.00 from Flashgear (dealer on the forum here) which means more money to put into hardware. He also said he would have 8700k cpus for around 4,5k in a week or two (normally retail for around 7k). Can you PM him and have a chat?

It must be able to play Witcher 3 on high at about 40 fps, and 25 is my number but if i can get that performance with less thats fine. Plus a screen plus windows is about 5k so 25k is pretty much on the money i figure. I just need help with a build to work off of.

I'll try and put together something for you tonight, right now it's beer o'clock...

You wanna game at 1080p I assume?

I put together parts from Wootware just to check and it came to around R23.500 including assembly and the install of Windows but you have to install the CPU and fan yourself.

It's basically all the parts bought from Wootware except the CPU and Windows.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I sent him a pm.

The upgrade bug is niggling away at me right now so spending someone else's money (virtually) is kinda fun :)

If the 8700k is available at that price, Rebeltech have a 1070 Ti that's 7 grand - that's a solid deal. A 1070 Ti will be very good for 60fps 1440p on high \ ultra settings.

Asus Prime H310-Plus R1 249.00
G.Skill F4-2400C15D-Ripjaws 16GB (2x8GB) R2 479.00
Gigabyte Gaming 1070 Ti R7 099.00
Western Digital Green 240Gb R899.00
Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro 550W R999.00
Western Digital Blue 1Tb R579.00
Flashgear 8700k R 4 500.00
Antec A40 Pro R359.00
Dell U2518D 25" UltraSharp WQHD IPS 60Hz R5 349.00
Flashgear Windows R450.00
Case - personal preference (there's about R 1 000.00 left over)

If it seems a little weird to use a non-370 board for a K-series chip, that's just me. It costs a lot to overclock the 8700K to over 5Ghz (the default boost clock is already at 4.7Ghz) - the motherboards with sufficient VRM cooling and power phases to get appreciably past 5Ghz cost too much to make it worth it (imo). Especially if you do go 1440p where the GPU would be doing the bulk of the lifting. You might feel differently in which case you should look at Z370 boards and drop the memory to 8Gb to stay within budget.

Thanks neoprod, i see even a normal 1070 gets more than 60fps which is super sweet. I will post pics of my pc building journey as i go along.

R4500 - i7-8700k Approximate price from www.nucleustech.co.za @Flashgear will have stock in about 2 weeks.
R1029- GIGABYTE H310M S2H
R2889 - Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK8GX4M2B4133C19, 8GB Kit, DDR4-4133, CL19 - Black
R7099 - GTX 1070 Ti Gaming 8G
R779 - Cooler Master MasterBox MB510L
R999 - Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro 550w
R579 - Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB
R450 - Windows 10 Professional Sealed Including COA Sticker
R4299 - LG 24GM79G-B 24" 144Hz 1ms Anti-Glare Full HD (1920x1080) Freesync Gaming Desktop Monitor
R22623

You will need to buy a CPU cooler to for the i7 8700k as it does not come with one. It's about R300 more than the locked 8700 from MineAway but it has higher clocks.
I suggest you look at a 500GB-1TB m.2 SSD from Carbonite, these deals come and go so can't really provide links. A 1TB SSD should be under R3k just to give you some idea.

The budget does not allow for a Z series motherboard which would be about R1k more and you would need a pukka cooler to OC that i7 8700k

The monitor is Freesync which is of no benefit to nVidia users but it still does 144Hz 1ms. Depending on the type of games you play you might wanna change that to a 1440p display at a lower refresh rate.

Gtx1080 ti are going for around 8k on carb. Just buy from a reputable seller and its a good deal. Most cards were mined with though so look for one with some warranty left. Its made a huge diff to my budget to grab things off carb.

+1

And it has higher stock clocks than the non-k version and the price from Flashgear makes it even more compelling.

I've never been to carbonite. Just not sure whether it's of any use to buy a GPU there, especially a 1080 ti? If you going to spend 8K plus on a card, ot seems odd that the best available GPU is going so low?

It can be any number of things, someone selling an RMA'd card because they already replaced it, people that mined for 6 months and gave up, as long as they didn't modify the firmware the card is still perfectly fine.
