I'll get back to you later.
Thanks @ponder, know you have a good rep when it cones to advice here
Cool, I see you're on Carb looking at Ryzen 1st gen systems...that's a much better option
Yeah after some research and thinking I decided that's the best way to go
Will have a look at this thanks @Neoprod

Tried a ryzen 5 3600 build which comes to ~R8200 but that is minus a gpu. So you would be better off looking at bundle deals or full systems on carb.
Thanks for trying @ponder I'm also still willing to wait out a couple of months till bonus time haha so I can push the budget till about R12k. Will see how it pans out, did you try a build on wootware?

That would be a good idea if you can. You should be able to add avery decent gpu from carb with the extra cash.

Yes wootware,

Everything's pointing that direction now, insurance also taking their own sweet time to complete the payout. My broker is telling me I'd only see the money nearer to the end of November which works well into my plans. Thanks for sharing @ponder, once I have the money I'll be back with more questions

Okay I’ll throw my question into the mix because it’s Monday I couldn’t be arsed.

Looking to go Ryzen 3600, 16GB DDR4-3200, Nvme (PCI-e 4x)and a mobo.

Undecided if I should go B450, X470 or X570.

I’ll OC for sure but on air so it won’t be anything major. I’ll only have the one nvme so I don’t necessarily need two M.2 slots, but it’s a future option I guess. I have a WiFi card so don’t need onboard WiFi, but then I also like the idea of getting something decent now for future upgrading or what have you.
Looked at the Tomahawk, Taichi and various others.

It’s a huge pool of options and I’ll admit to being unsure as to what I should go for. Let’s say R9k or thereabouts.

B450 Tomahawk will be fine, even the bazooka plus & mortar models are just fine. No real need to pay more for a mb.

The ryzen 3x00 chips are not great overclockers so don't expect more than a 100-200mhz at most, that will however result in more heat and power draw with no real noticeable performance increase. It's really not worth it.

Get some semi decent ram and play around with those clocks/timings.

For ssd look at Mushkin MKNSSDPE1TB-D8 Pilot-E 1TB

You reckon there’s no point going X470?

I’m looking at Corsair Vengeance RGB Pros. CL-16-18-18-36.

Can get HyperX Predator RGB CL-16 for cheaper though. They seem decent per reviews I’ve seen.

Eish I can’t drop R2500 on an SSD unfortunately. The 512 for R1249 seems good though.

You said, "Let’s say R9k or thereabouts." and it's doable on that budget.

Another option is to look at amazon for an ssd

Yea you’re right, I guess I just don’t feel I need that much space on the NVME, for the premium.

How does amazon work with regards to returns and RMA? I assume you ship back to the states? I’d prefer to buy locally if that’s the case.

Another option is Amazon, but there will be delays wrt shipping should you need to return something.
That's understandable, as it'll have to shipped stateside if something needs to be returned. And customs duties as well or am I wrong, to get the parts this side
