Exploring the used market not an option?Morning guys,
So I'm back here again as my insurance finally paid me out. Now I'm looking for a rig that can play most, if not all games at 60+ FPS on high or ultra settings. The budget has now been upped to R12k-R14k.
I must also add my peripherals was also stolen when my house got broken into so the price must include that too.
I was thinking of this below, if anyone can do a better build than I did please share it as it's been a while since I built a PC

Sadly no, due a few reasons and I'll also be paying via CC for the items or systemExploring the used market not an option?
Some amazing deals on Carbonite and better bang for your buck so to speak.
Okay - makes sense. Good luck on your quest - always exciting putting together a new rigSadly no, due a few reasons and I'll also be paying via CC for the items or system
Thanks man, hope it all comes together nicely. Any advice on the parts I chose? What can be changed, etc.Okay - makes sense. Good luck on your quest - always exciting putting together a new rig![]()
Looks decent. It's all subjective though. I have an affinity for an AIO cooler for noise reduction and looks too. Thanks man, hope it all comes together nicely. Any advice on the parts I chose? What can be changed, etc.
Noise reduction isn't that much of a priority now but it would be nice to have less noise.Looks decent. It's all subjective though. I have an affinity for an AIO cooler for noise reduction and looks too.
Planning on a minimum 60fps on 1080p I take it?
You're missing the obvious though...some RGB to make it all go faster.![]()

That looks way better yeah, adding the two SSDs is a blonde moment. It's much sounder advice to take a 500GB SSD and have a 1TB mechanical driveR4399 - [DEMO] GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming OC 6G Much better cooler and still has warranty
R749 - Super Flower SF-550P14HE Bronze King 550W Don't see a PSU listed
R1949 - Mushkin MKNSSDHL1TB-D8 Helix-L 1TB M.2 Drop the two SSDs or stick with the 500GB and get a 1TB WD HDD from Rebel
R3759 - AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Budget B450 boards seem to be out of stock at the moment.
Thanks for all the info man, really appreciate it. If I find a similarly priced drive that's better, I'll take it. But for now the Mushkins must do due to my tight budgetA note on the Mushkin SSDs, keep in mind that they're part of a series of drives which omit the inclusion of a DRAM cache to save costs. See this video for an explanation:
The TL;DW is that they're still faster than a regular HDD, but if you can find a similarly priced SSD with a DRAM cache then it's usually worth it to go for that instead. This is because being DRAM-less typically results in the SSD being slower with a lower lifespan. The Crucial MX500 is generally considered to be great value in terms of price vs performance and it's only about R300 more than the Mushkin on Wootware for a 1TB drive:

Like the poster above said, it's also usually a good idea to go with one SSD for your boot drive and apps/games, then add a high capacity HDD for storage.

Also not badly priced. I've got the Palit one with a single fan design like this and it's pretty solid. The 1660ti doesn't seem to get hot.
Normally I'd be the same but the Palit Geforce GTX 1660ti doesn't really get that hot, it also is quieter than the RX580 with it's dual fans blowing. For R100 less I'd rather get the Asus Phoenix as it's new not demo.I shy away from single fan gpus as they have smaller heatsinks and generally run hotter. Some use a heatsink design that looks like a stock intel cpu heatsink without heatpipes and those are the worst of the lot when it comes to cooling. Besides the dual fans running cooler they are also quieter as they can run at lower rpm. The 1660ti really should not run hot, with a 21C ambient it should be just above 60C
I'd rather get the Asus Phoenix as it's new not demo.
