But music and movies you can stream from the internet? The days of people building NAS's are almost over, except for a few dedicated pirates out there.
I built my sons/wives PC for under R10k and it's a 1600af with 16gigs of RAM, 256gb SSD, 1TB normal and a RX580 but last years pricing was a little better on certain things like hdds and ssds. But this will total 9654 you'll need to find a decent chassis though.

i was hoping to be price competitive in the sense of buying from whoever was cheapest..Any PC shop (Matrix etc) should do that for you. It will just be a hassle if there is a faulty component since they won't be responsible then you have to send it back to the supplier. If you buy from one place (like Wootware) they can also assemble and test it for you usually.
exactlySeems like it yes. But I think he is getting a SSD as well. This is just for video and photo storage. I run my PLEX server off a WD blue or green 5400 rpm drive and it works fine.
i hear you and under normal circumstances i would.I'd personally avoid this, and rather buy it all from one supplier and have them assemble it.
Why? If anything goes wrong, you know who to blame.
Make one person responsible for something and you know who to shout at if it is not done. The same applies to work incidentally.
But yeah, the money you save will not be worth the headache. Imagine if your motherboard and RAM come from different suppliers but don't play well together? The RAM supplier will be like, change your motherboard, and your motherboard supplier will be like, change your RAM.
If one supplier supplies both, then they have to sort it out, and even better, they have to sort it out before they even give it to you. You don't even receive the goods until they have tested them.

but right now money rules a lot of decisions
if i can save few thousand it allows for other things
Computer mania, says they are shipping orders also.
Ordered a power supply for my plex server, lets see how quick it comes. Did not want to pay too much for my plex server and wootware only has superflower in stock.
the few thousand rands i was referring to was using my ebucks throughI'd be amazed if you could save a few thousand Rand doing that.
But up to you, personally I've seen the difference usually comes to like a few hundred Rand at most, and then you have the worry of what happens when things go wrong.
Also, if you order from multiple shops, you pay courier fees multiple times. Remember to include that.
Also contact the shop and ask them before you do this. They might not be willing to take on the risk.
is it correct on wootware that the msi tomahawk b450 is end of life?
is the older one still a good option? It's been superseded by the MAX version. Only difference is a larger bios if I recall correctly.

Hopefully, by the time the CPU arrives, some expected cash will have come in.
Even cheaper by like 350 -400 rand if you willing to wait till lockdown endsPS that msi b450 MB is back in stock at R50 more and there's now also the ASRock B450M-HDV in stock for R1579
