Yea a 3600 is perfect for gaming right now. However, this is a work and gaming rig, so a couple extra cores and higher clocks could be useful. Also, we expect games to take better advantage of more cores so the extra would provide longevity.

It's more the thinking than the actual CPU's that's important in that vid. The illustration of diminishing returns is pretty clear.

For a semi-workstation the conversation becomes about the 3700X vs the 5800X when comparing the new generation to what's available now. I don't know where the 10700K fits into that equation but I'm guessing 3rd place when Z490 pricing is taken into account.

Yea Intel isn't really even a consideration I don't think. Systems benefit from faster RAM, but those are only fully utilized on unlocked K CPUs and decent motherboards, which works out more expensive than the AMD alternative. I think anyubody buying Intel these days is doing so purely out of Intel Fanboyism or spite for AMD.

3000 or 5000 is the real question, but until we have solid reviews and local pricing it's hard to say.

I will say, my 3700X runs like a champ, so if 5000 is that much better, it's a good time to be a PC buyer.

Can anyone here who's running 2 FULL-length GPU's in a chassis please let me know which chassis you have?

I'm looking for Chassis for 2 full-length cards (1080ti's ) but i'm struggling to find ones, even ATX, that seem to fit it just by browsing on the Net. So I'm hoping someone her with experience in them will know what works well.

Most atx cases without front drive cages will work, just check the max gpu length case specs with what you own, example https://www.wootware.co.za/phanteks...lack-steel-atx-mid-tower-desktop-chassis.html

That is a Zotac 1080Ti Amp Extreme in a Phanteks P600S, and I can easily fit another in there. It will sit a bit close to the bottom of the case though.

I have 2 hard drives in there next to the PSU. The PSU is a bit long, otherwise I would have 4 in there. There is room for another 4 at the top before the GPU gets in the way.

Ouch, I bought it for R2k.

Thanks all.

Seems the P400A will do what i need. Now I need 5 of them...lol

Seems stock is not great on these.

Nope they still make the best cpus for gaming, for now. So if you want the best gaming pc you'll buy intel.
Well yes, for now, until the 5000 series is released, which is what all previous posts were predicated on.

IIRC, yes, that and the Gigabyte Aorus Elite are the two best value options.
Also consider the B550 boards.

Not looked at X570 but Googled and Steve thinks it's good.
