Yep. There are a number of boards that "share" bandwidth between ports to reduce cost. With my new build, 6 SATA and 1 NVME that work concurrently was one of my must-have requirements. This disqualified a large number of boards on my initial short-list.

I downloaded my manual specifically to check just now, I can use all 6 SATA ports and both M.2 slots, only if I use a SATA M.2 in the second M.2 slot does SATA 3 stop working.

Go as crazy as you want, just update the BIOS to the latest version for the 5000 series.

The B450M Mortar has a very decent vrm design that should have no issue with a 5950x.

I don't know what cpu & cooler you currently have but you might require a new cooler for the 5950x, just something to keep in mind.

In past years have there been any good BF PC parts specials, like CPU/GPU/SSD/RAM etc?
I need a complete new tower and I may as well plan to buy on BF if there's going to be good deals going.

Nope, not within the last year, though if you'd gotten a 3070 at 12k last year you scored.
I mean the fact that a 1660ti is 2k more then I paid for my 2060 super back at tee start of 2020 is amazing.

Do any of them have decent parts prices on BF itself or is it just general deals during the lead up?

Freaking hell, so took a chance with a cooler on Takealot, they state it's 12cm cooler. Checked reviews and there were pretty good ones for this chinese brand called Snowman . So thought I'd give it a try, turns out it's not 12cm but rather 92mm.
