I don't see the point of FreeSync if you don't game.
Also, nVidia now also supports FreeSync. Officially it is called G-Sync compatible (or something like that), but you can enable it on all FreeSync monitors.

From what I've read, AMD has better linux drivers, but you probably know more about that than I.
Also gsync compatible only works on 1 monitor, and also does not support hdmi. Where freesync can enables on all monitors at the same time and over hdmi.

Seems they changed couriers, it was not aramex.

Courier is Rhenus express.

I spent ages on AMD's website yesterday and did not find what I was looking for (despite using the site's search box and Google), this evening I again clicked on the link I posted earlier, used AMD's search box (again), and out pops this:

and a bit more detail:

A couple of minutes digesting that, and I now realise that I want an X570 motherboard for the 5950X CPU (that I have already purchased).

Before anyone asks, I decided not to go for Wootware's R9 custom build because the only option available to change was the graphics card, and for a start I want 2 * 32GB of DDR4, but there's no way of changing that on Wootware's site. I also have no intention of letting Windows control my hardware (100% Linux).

It seems like DDR4-3600 is the way to go, or DDR4-3200.

I'm not sure which direction to take as far as graphics cards are concerned (it's not for a gaming rig), price and availability will likely dictate, but I do have somewhat old FreeSync monitors. So maybe Radeon instead of NVidia?

Although I have survived without FreeSync until now (again it's not for gaming), I also have no idea if my old FreeSync monitors would even be supported.

Water cooler for the CPU, what should I avoid/consider there?

I don't give a pile of rat droppings about RGB on any fans, memory or other components (RGB lighting is annoying enough on keyboards and mice).

Any advice still welcome.
I'm running an MSI x570 ACE with 128GB of Corsair Vengence Pro 3600Mhz... I struggle to keep the system stable at 3600Mhz, at 3200Mhz its rock solid. (with a 3950X, MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio, TT 360mm AIO, Corsair MP600 2TB Gen 4 Nvme )

Looking to build a system - high end gaming, and streaming Twitch, YouTube.

Budget around R30 000.00, though this can go a few thousands higher if required.

Main drive, 1 Terabyte SSD, good fast drive.

CPU - Intel preferred

RAM 32 Gigabytes?

Case must have good cooling

I know this is a bit broad, but bear with me please.

May as well go for Alder Lake.

Do you need monitor/keyboard/mouse? Either way R30k is not gonna get you a high-end gaming rig. Intel is also gonna cost more.

Notice there is not a CPU cooler included, if I am not mistaken.

Can a significant improvement be made by checking an extra 6-7 thousands rands to that setup?

Think the GPU, is good enough, but will check with my Son.

Not that up do date with the latest systems but this is pretty high end. Could maybe upgrade the GPU and add some cooling but this system looks good to me. Also maybe a 2 tb ssd games these days take up lots of space

Here is a cheap good cpu cooler https://www.wootware.co.za/cooler-m...2-rgb-black-edition-120mm-fan-cpu-cooler.html

Cooler looks good, thanks.

Son needs to play a game, record, and stream live, Twitch and YouTube. System that Ponder put up looks to be up to the task. That is if you ask me, but what do I know. :)

Will ask him about the bigger SSD.

Will a 2 TB SSD, be better than 2x 1TB SSD's?
