ordered this from takealot, let's hope it works :-) the one video review of the 92mm show it drops the temps of a 3600x, so the 120mm should right?

Also this from Takealot didn't accept my review by the looks of it.

And the third party has changed as well.

Let me know how that goes - might add it to my growing list lol

I see that they carefully omit to mention the number of cooling pipes between the find and the base...

Looks like 4, I mean if the 92 comes with 4 doubt the 120mm will be less.

Can anyone confirm the Dell monitor on sale at Evetech is in fact the "DGFA" model? As in the IPS panel version and not the VA?

Yes I know evetech but they are way way cheaper than anyone else if it is the model they say it is. Rather than dealing with a return I'd like to know if anyone picked one up.

Alright so I sent the money through for my PC... ahhh the 13 day wait D:

So what do you guys generally do once you get a new PC.
I want to get Unreal engine and test those compile times.
Also thinking of giving Guardians of the galaxy a try.

Any other software you guys recomend getting like to monitor temperatures and check how things are running?

My usual installations on a fresh install include:

MSI Afterburner to monitor temps and voltages, adjust fan curves etc.
Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
7-Zip
Lates driver and windows updates obviously
Latest BIOS
VLC
CPU-Z & GPU-Z as general tools I find useful
Unigine Superposition / Unigine Heaven / Unigine Valley as benchmarks and for testing temps under load
K-Lite Codec pack
Chrome
Discord

Couple things I'd recommend doing once Windows is up and running.
1. Click start, type "suggest" and and click "show suggestions in your timeline". Disable that. (It automatically downloads apps Windows thinks you might want ((by which I mean apps MS gets paid tp push to your PC, like Spotify, Candy Crush etc)).
2. Open GeForce Control Panel and under 3D settings set your "Power management mode" to maximum performance and "Texture Filtering - Quality" to high performance. Also turn V-Sync off.
3. Enable G-Sync (if you have a G-sync or G-Sync compatible GPU).
4. Uninstall the random Windows bloatware that's pre-installed (Your Phone, Feedback Hub, Mobile Plans and the other random kak).
6. Disable IPV6 in your network settings - some games have a bug where they won't run properly if IPV6 is enabled. (Don't do this if you need IPV6 obviously).
7. Set your default browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, whatever).

I bought one and so did a friend of mine, it was too big of a discount to pass up. And both of ours arrived in good condition. There is no VA version of this monitor that is flat anyway, only the curved HGF which Evetech also sells.

Evetech may have a bad wrap for aftersales, but you will receive what you order, and hopefully nothing goes wrong with the courier. I'd likely go through Dell directly for warranty claims though. I will add that the couple of items I've bought from Evetech have all been fine.

I will probably do all of this except the Unigine stuff... dont know what id use it for xD.
Thanks man!

Unigine is useful for getting the system under load so you can see what the temps do under load. Once done, uninstall.

Has anyone seen any deals for DDR4 16GB modules?
I need 2 x 16GB, minimum 3200ghz CL16.
To feed my 3950X monster!

No real deals, but they are pretty cheap at the moment, a little more then what they were last month but still the cheapest I've seen it over 2 years.

Around R2200 for 2 x 16GB 3200mhz non RGB seems to be the going rate?
Where else should I look other than Wootware?

Can you mix ram makes/models as long as they are all the same Mhz and CL?
I have 1 x Corsair 16GB 3200mhz CL16 module currently.

That's the going rate, it was R3k most of the year.
You can mix and match, it does work, is it recommended though not really

I'm assuming it's best to mix and match in pairs if anything?

so I've been having a weird issue for the past year or so that I've struggled to deal with. It started with Cyberpunk and my PC having continual freezes/crashes. At first I thought this was down to the shitty state Cyberpunk released in, and some of it definitely was, but then I started noticing these crashes in other games that were moderately graphically intense (no issue on games like Fall Guys or Hades). I went through endless NVIDIA driver updates and changes, and while I noticed different issues with different drivers, the core issue of game freezes and occasional reboots continued (no blue screens, and sometimes the PC just locks up AFTER I've finished playing a game - i.e. there is no demand on the GPU at that time, but it still locks). Something is ****ed.

In some desperation, I started fiddling with my other components - mainly the RAM. I have 2 x 8gb sticks and they run at slightly different speeds, which shouldn't be an issue because they both default to the slower speed. I tried taking one stick out and still had the issue, I tried the other stick and it didn't even boot for some reason, I swapped them around and dusted everything off and wala - no issues for about a month. Then, the freezing started again.

So I opened the case, used some compressed air with everything disconnected to de-dust the interior of the case (there was minimal dust in there anyway, but it was still a bit dusty). I cleared up my fans, tried to make sure the PSU outlet was clear and gave the thing a bit more ventilation and what do you know - we're rolling strong again.

So I can't work out if I have maybe a RAM issue (seems doubtful despite being primary susptect), a MOBO issue (I still want to update the BIOS as I'm sure there must be a later version), a CPU issue, or a PSU issue. Its not an HDD issue as I of course already reformatted and re-installed everything and instantly had the problem. Could it really be a little bit of dust or MAYBE slightly poor airflow that's been giving me these headaches? I've never experienced anything like this before so thought I'd put this long sorry tale out there to see if anyone else has / has some insights.

My understanding is that both DIMMs in a dual channel pair must be exactly the same make and model (I don't think they are even sold separately, always sold as a pair).

I suggest that before buying, make sure that the DIMMs you intend to buy are on the QVL for your motherboard.
