So, that loan PC I was on about; my mate now needs cash monies and want to sell it to me. Thoughts on the current spec and if his price is reasonable?

- Case (Not sure, brand, but its nice, sleek and has a window )
- Decent PSU - will get model number - but it could do with an upgrade if I went with a bigger GFX )
- CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 - 3600 - 6 Core
- Memory: 16GB - Don't have brand info (Will check )
- Motherboard: MSi X470 Gaming Plus
- GFX - GTX 1060 - 6GB
- Screen 1080 27" Philips

For all that, he want's 12k.

With the monitor it seems reasonable. Sadly PC prices are high now, a year ago I would have said about R9k for that what storage does it have

It has my SSD 980GB drive in there.

Not sure I would be able to build something for less, with this level of performance.

I'd upgrade the GFX and PSU next year though to a 3060

It's a reasonable ask.

Looking at Carb,
GTX 1060 ~R4000
X470 ~R1400
R5 3600 ~R3000
16GB ~R1000

Total R9400, so you'll have to figure out if the psu/case/lcd is worth R2600...

Yeah I’d say it would be. Screen is probably 1800 to 2k on its own.

Thanks all.

Would this be a good base to upgrade in the future? GFX and maybe CPU wise?

Yep, decent enough build and the price is fair. What's more, you already know it works fine.

True, it suits my needs exactly. I don’t see me upgrading the card anytime soon as I only play ACC. Maybe if I started playing FH5 or some other car game…

I've noticed a 2hnd GTX 1070 8GB can be had for around R5k these days, that's just about the best value card I have found considering the specs.

What are they like, are there any shortcoming or things to be aware of with these cards?
They are pretty old, 2016 first release, potential pitfalls of a 5yr old GPU?

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

GRAPHICS PROCESSOR GP104

CORES 1920

TMUS 120

ROPS 64

MEMORY SIZE8 GB

MEMORY TYPEG DDR5

BUS WIDTH 256 bit

No warranty so if it dies no recourse. If you do get one strip&clean the whole thing, repaste gpu.
Can the paste lose its ability to conduct heat?
What's the recommended paste to use?
And what are the 1070 8GB like

Yes, it can go hard with age.
Google, just NOT anything liquid metal.
Good for 1080p gaming I'd say.

Only ten fans wtf Crocopede get the hell out of here, you should be ashamed.

Built my 1st PC in 8 years. Things have changed a lot.
Took me 12 hours. 8 of which was troubleshooting no post. Grinded until 3:30am.
Eventually issue found. god damn PCIe 8pin to 2 x 8pin was faulty.
Modular and had spare cables. Replaced it and whalla.

That's a maxed out system, what are you planning on doing with it other than using it as a drone?
