I cranked it up to 2400rpm via the built in Gigabyte software and it was alright. I'd have to do a wider test. The ARGB is plugged in, just don't know how to control it via Gigabytes software as my older fans are analogue this is DLED.

Out of interest sake why did you need to upgrade from the stock cooler?

I can get a new/unused oem Wraith CPU cooler for R200, I might just get that on the meantime unless they are really rubbish or noisy?

Honestly, no idea thought a white cooler with the RGB would cap off the white case and it's been 3 years with the 2600 so thought you know what maybe you need a little love . Thermal paste was still good on the wraith actually.
They actually aren't noisy and they are acceptable I mean I was getting 65 degrees tops with the Wraith Stealth and on my 1600 build it's about 60 tops. So it's serviceable in the end, especially as one that comes with the CPU.

I got the Wraith prism with my 3700x and it was underwhelming. Would actually be good on something a little lower spec or with fewer cores, but I upgraded to the Lian-Li Galahad 240mm AIO and it was a huge difference.

Recently built a 5600x rig and would definitely recommend an aftermarket cooler there too. using CPU-Z to stress the CPU, it got up to the mid 80s - not representative of a gaming scenario, but still. Not great.

Ok videos are too large to paste on here but all fans at 2400 sounds like an aircon going on, CPU fan at 2400 and it's not loud at all.

Well it arrived the Raidmax AC1204 cpu cooler was R525 on takealot, it is a 120cm fan, it has 4 heatpipes, it has those silly clip things for the fan.
Got some coolermaster thermal paste at the same time as I'm not sure if I trust the ones that come in the packet.
Temps on my 2600 Ryzen stock were 60 to 65 while gaming and 50 when idle. Now with this is 40 to 42 while gaming and 30 while idling. It's also a bit quieter even though it could ramp up to 2400rpm if needed and even at that not to bad.
Difference from a hyper 212 or Gammax 400 is that you can literally take off the old cooler and screw the new one into the back plate. Obviously after putting on the right bracket, Intel is a little more complicated with some plastic things you need to add.

Looks pretty sweet actually.

If you're looking for a second white fan for the other side of the cooler, let me know - I've got a spare Phanteks fan from their 12cm cooler lying around. Can probably track down the splitter that came with also.

Thanks, I'll see how it goes with this one. I just realised I didn't put the backplate back on the GFX card, I took it off to clean up and such. Which fan are you using the Phanteks? I've not actually had a bunny for 3 months since they closed.

There's no ways I'm going through the faff of a liquid cooler again and they don't have much advantage over a fan going by this video :

What basic fan CPU cooler would be recommended for a 3950X?
I don't need rgb or pretty looks just functionality.
It's rated at 105 W TDP but with all cores running full tilt it will apparently reach 137 W.

Custom loops are a pain. AIOs have come a long way though, I basically installed it and haven't touched it since. Works a charm.

I'd probably still recommend a good air cooler unless you're looking for max performance, but aesthetically the AIO wins for me.

Basically if you are only gaming and such, you probably could get away with it.

Well the one I got is apparently rated to 150, I would slap another fan on the back as an exhaust.

All else being the same what differentiates a fan like yours at around R500 to the Noctura ones that go for around R1500?

Name perhaps? I mean there are many clones of the Hyper 212 but some peform better and are cheaper

That looks like a good option for me, max fan speed is only 1600rpm so should be pretty quiet but I can't find the TDP spec anywhere even on the Coolmaster website. Without that how do you workout if a cooler will be sufficient, is there other metrics for working that out, like the CFM?
