They're still fsck slow compared to solid state though, if you're on a tight budget they will do the job.

True, still way faster than the 2.5"5TB I had before.

I had my mind set on a 8TB Samsung SSD but those are R12k and this is my storage / archive drive so 18TB at half the price of a 8TB SSD made a lot more sense.

I do run a M.2 system drive

PC Building Simulator 2 retains the basic premise of the original while adding several improvements. As you might notice in the video, the graphical fidelity of the components you’ll be manipulating has been improved, giving a more immersive experience.

There are over 1,200 individual PC parts available at launch from more than 45 brands, including Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and a range of boutique manufacturers; the developer says the hardware is "true to life."

You also get more customization options, a "deeper simulation" of the PCs you’ll be putting together, and parts with RGB lighting, of course.

PC Building Simulator 2 also comes with a career mode promising 30+ hours of gameplay focused on the "repair shop experience."

This will innovate on the original’s career mode, adding an improved and expanded feature set incorporating years of community feedback, according to the press release.

Single-threaded performance is more important to me than multi - I run the cpu slightly power-limited so the case and AIO fans can run ~500 rpm all the time. Lightly-threaded workloads don't hit the power limit so boost still works fine.

It stays under 70C in Cinebench R23 multi because of the power limit.

@Rouxenator There's a guy running a 5700G who managed to get his memory to run 1:1:1 at 2500Mhz (5000Mhz DDR4). Seems 2200Mhz+ FCLK is easy for these APU's from looking at HWBOT - very cool.

If you fancy a tinker, might be fun.

That is very nice indeed. I am hoping with DDR5 becoming more affordable the prices of fast DDR4 will drop. Then I will try something like that.
Right now I am running stock except the iGPU is up 400Mhz to 2.4Ghz at 1.3v

What memory kit are you using at the moment? It's likely you can get some additional speed out of them unless you got unlucky with the NAND chips used.

Why would that be called a compact case, seems pretty big too me?
Unless you were running 2 gfx cards that needed 2 slot spaces each I'm not sure why you would need bigger than that. Seems to have very good cable management.
