These things sure have come a long way since the old Connor 420mb we had in our 486 that could do 880kb/s

They're still fsck slow compared to solid state though, if you're on a tight budget they will do the job.

True, still way faster than the 2.5"5TB I had before.

I had my mind set on a 8TB Samsung SSD but those are R12k and this is my storage / archive drive so 18TB at half the price of a 8TB SSD made a lot more sense.

I do run a M.2 system drive

PC Building Simulator 2 arrives this year with better looks, 1,200+ parts, and a 30-hour career mode - TechSpot

New ways of using your PC to pretend-build a PC

PC Building Simulator 2 retains the basic premise of the original while adding several improvements. As you might notice in the video, the graphical fidelity of the components you’ll be manipulating has been improved, giving a more immersive experience.

There are over 1,200 individual PC parts available at launch from more than 45 brands, including Intel, AMD, Nvidia, and a range of boutique manufacturers; the developer says the hardware is "true to life."

You also get more customization options, a "deeper simulation" of the PCs you’ll be putting together, and parts with RGB lighting, of course.

PC Building Simulator 2 also comes with a career mode promising 30+ hours of gameplay focused on the "repair shop experience."

This will innovate on the original’s career mode, adding an improved and expanded feature set incorporating years of community feedback, according to the press release.

My 4750G Pro will be up for grabs soon - it is faster than a GT 1030 on the GPU side.

Single-threaded performance is more important to me than multi - I run the cpu slightly power-limited so the case and AIO fans can run ~500 rpm all the time. Lightly-threaded workloads don't hit the power limit so boost still works fine.

It stays under 70C in Cinebench R23 multi because of the power limit.

Fire sale going on at Wootware: https://www.wootware.co.za/fire-sale-q122
Not sure if mentioned before
As much as I am a fan of wootware, there's only a handful to talk about.

Ryzen 5800X is almost touching the firstshop ****up price which we all got a refund for. R6,499
12900KF intel is at a great price - R10,799
F4-4000C18D-64GTZR RBG DDR4 4000Mhz CL18 is lookin fine at - R6,199
PH-EC200AC_BK01 Mini ITX Phanteks case which takes a full ATX power supply - R639
Palit GeForce RTX 3070 GamingPro - not bad 'value' when you think the GTX 1080 launched at around this price back in 2016 - R13,999
Palit GeForce RTX 3080 GamingPro 10G - only 1000 bucks more than the initial launch price, given the rand/dollar at the moment I'd say it's pretty good - R18,999
Wootbook Extreme 3 with a 4700H and a RTX 3060, 1440P screen - R19,999

@Rouxenator There's a guy running a 5700G who managed to get his memory to run 1:1:1 at 2500Mhz (5000Mhz DDR4). Seems 2200Mhz+ FCLK is easy for these APU's from looking at HWBOT - very cool.

If you fancy a tinker, might be fun.

That is very nice indeed. I am hoping with DDR5 becoming more affordable the prices of fast DDR4 will drop. Then I will try something like that.
Right now I am running stock except the iGPU is up 400Mhz to 2.4Ghz at 1.3v

What memory kit are you using at the moment? It's likely you can get some additional speed out of them unless you got unlucky with the NAND chips used.

What is a Fractal Design Define 7 Compact case like?
Why would that be called a compact case, seems pretty big too me?
Unless you were running 2 gfx cards that needed 2 slot spaces each I'm not sure why you would need bigger than that. Seems to have very good cable management.

Currently on special for R1,379:

That extra space for a front-mounted radiator.
