Looks like Wootware is getting some stock of the RX 6700 10GB, didn't see any mentions about it so for those in the market for a RX 6600 XT this is a solid option to consider instead.

At that price as well, really good that is the price the 2060 super was sitting at a few months ago.

October 2021 Rand dollar was between R14.50 -> R15.00
The war between Russia and Ukraine didn't start yet. Petrol price was R14. 56 before that war.

If I use the Pringles index (Which I completely made up)
Between October 2021 and now everything is 33% more expensive.

Pringles use to be R20 at their most expensive, now it's R29
So no second coming GPU prices for Dec 2022. Who would have known

I took the plunge and bought a GIGABYTE GAMING RTX 3080 OC 10GB for R15,999.00 from Incredible Connection 4 months ago, they were doing what I think must have been financial year end specials, it seems like very little stock because a friend bought the 12GB model then when I tried to order it there was no more stock, so I had to settle for the 10GB. Then I didn't open the box for 3 weeks because I was of two minds as to what was going to happen with all the RTX 40 series rumours going off.

Oh one other thing, if one buys Nvidia cards from Incredible it seems they don't come with any free games offers that Nvidia might be offering from time to time. The excuse I got was "they are still finalising terms with Nvidia and thus they are not an authorised reseller with Nvidia".

So my PC eventually died thanks to load shedding (I've since installed surge protectors)
Insurance only paid out R5000 for surge damages.

Anyway, how does the following look for a replacement?
I like to keep things a bit future proof. DDR5 parts are too expensive at the moment.

I've got a coolermaster hyper 212x on my old CPU. Kinda hoping that will work, at least their website says it fits am4.
It will, do you still have the box with the accessories? As you'll need to change the backplate and stuff.

Not sure why everyone building pc when we have no power most of the day :p
Yes agree. You come home from work 2-4 hours of playtime then boom loadshedding. I don't even feel like buying a nice tv, upgrading my pc or pretty much anything that uses electricity.

That's why one invests in an inverter.

Looks pretty solid. If you had a bigger budget for the cpu could look at a 5800x3d instead .
Remember the cooler, the 5000 series doesn't come with one.

My 5600 came with a cooler

My monitor is coming today, The alienware was not working, swap out to better resolution and something with more reviews. Now my problem is my keyboard and mouse. I bumping the ram to 128GB, I bumping the SSD to 2TB and HDD 2TB. I just need a decent keyboard. I bought this one and don't like the keyboard as much: https://www.wootware.co.za/redragon...601-centrophorus-rgb-gaming-mouse-bundle.html

Any recommendation?

What's the budget?

Stick to the known brands: Logitech, Ducky, Steelseries, Asus, Corsair, Razer.

Why? He bought a membrane keyboard, there are some pretty decent other mechanical keyboards out there, I mean hell my old Marvo entry level mechanical I picked up for R199 in 2019 is still going strong, it's just really loud :-), the Foxxray I got to replace my sons membrane (which I stole as it's got a knobby to change volume and stuff) works well as well. The only thing is those 2 aren't RGB but rainbow
