That’s exactly what I’m trying to do, but the MS media creation tool only works on Windows. My main PC has Fedora installed , the M1 doesn’t do bootcamp.

No I’m using the wagon (non writable media) to take delivery of the software so it isn’t compromised. As a MI fan you should know that this is the perfect solution. Can’t infect the analog with the digital!

Anyway, I think I’ll just burn the iso if by some miracle I can find a blank dvd. Or wait to use somebody else’s PC.
Download the ISO, then use Rufus to create a bootable disk.

Go to the website using a phone and send the link from your phone to the pc, since the phone does not support the media creation tool , it generates a direct download link

Hey guys

Planning to build a pc for the office (usually just word / excel docs and will be the “server “ for pastel accounting software)

Looking at AM4, AM5 and Intel

Planning ahead of the forced windows 11 update next year as the current pc is just not up to the task anymore

Which would be a better path , ideally would like the pc to last around 5 years

Noticed when running batches the database does put a load on the cpu so looking at something 6 cores or more

Don't go AM4 now, it's already 7 years old, AM5 has been around 2 years almost, rather go AM5, Intel I can't advice on as I never know which chip goes where, as they love to change things.

With onbaord graphics, go for something like 4650g or 4600g.

That 4650G I got last week is pretty sweet. I did have a 4750G previously which I upgraded to the 5700G. For playing Xonotic every day I honestly can't say I see the difference. I play at 4K.

If you are going AM4, maybe try for the 5600G/5700G as their L3 cache is not as neutered as the 46xx/47xx and they are also Zen3 based. The integrated Vega graphics are the same though, but you might have slight gains in other areas with the 5xxx chips.

Thanks guys

Will look into this in the coming days. Honestly we rarely upgrade our pcs if it works fine currently running a 1st gen i3 and paired with an ssd it still runs well on Windows 10 Pro

AM4 would be great if it would last 5 years minimum no need to change out CPU’s as usually when the pc feels slow I’d just change the entire thing out

Considering AM5 as well. Intel just seems too much in terms of cost

Wanted to keep costs to around 7-10k

Not too worried about graphics this pc is for office use

Already got my Ryzen 7 5700x and RX 6950 XT gaming pc

I recently saw GT chips launch... whats this all about ?

so just some better fuel injection... nice that they are still keeping AM4 going
If enough of us stick to AM4 then AMD will at some stage throw us a bone. I just want some RDNA APU goodness.

As for SSDs, a lot of people said Muskin was crap yet I have been using a Pilot-E as my main drive for almost 4 years now, no issues.
