Very impressive.

The AM1 has a very effective cooler, and in the Antec ISK-110 case the CPU cooler is pulling in plenty of cold air directly from the room.

Recently I built up an "off site" backup PC for my folks that live on a farm. The PC is in the attic of a barn and running pretty hot under the tin roof. It was a fairly cheap build, got a good deal on the mobo and CPU, beefed up the RAM and had to attach the power supply with cable ties in the 5.25" drive bays because it is not a standard size. Runs like a dream though. I have it doing BOINC 24/7 just for the fun.

I so badly want to upgrade my GPU. My 390 is taking a beating with GTAV Graphics Mods, but I'm an AMD fan boy so don't know if I'm ready to jump to Team Green with the 1070 #firstworldproblems.

Pretty awesome.

So I've decided to go for the Dell 2515H from my monitor thread. Now for the PC...

Been out of the loop when it comes to PC gear so not sure what's good or not. I was thinking of getting something like this:

http://www.evetech.co.za/core-i5-gtx-1060-gaming-pc/best-pc-deal/2068.aspx

I would probably change some things like bigger SSD on the above, but other than that I'm not sure if it's a good build or if I can get better value elsewhere?

Other option is to build a PC (probably though Wootware), so need some recommendations on what to get. PC to be used for general browsing, Excel (financial modeling), Photoshop/Lightroom, and not so serious gaming.

Would like a Skylake i5, and least 8gb ram, and SSD and a secondary drive for storage, and I need an OS. Would really like a GTX 1070, but will settle for a 1060. Haven't a clue when it comes to motherboards. Don't plan to overclock (is that a good idea?). Budget around R15k.

What can I get?

Damn, I'd like to see you when you get serious!

I like nice things :D

I suppose it's more for future proofing than anything and knowing I have the option of maxing it out. Been gaming primarily on console for the past few years so ultra setting graphics is not the be all for me.

You can get some cool stuff for that price.

I like the B150 idea because they're much cheaper than entry-level Z170 boards. But they come with caveats - normally, BCLK overclocking is a problem (may not bother you and some may have BIOS revisions to address that) and some have RAM speed limitations. Definitely investigate the particular board you decide on. If SLI-xFire is a plan in the long-run (I don't bother but you might), the B150 probably won't have 2 full size PCI-E slots.

I'll have a think about what I would do with 15k and post again in the evening.

Anyone looking for a 2TB 2.5" drive? Can be had with or without external case. Bought one at the end of last year and used it in my PC, now I'm upgrading to 4TB so the 2TB is looking for a new home.

Don't think I'm going to overclock. And SLI is also not a priority, but I am looking to get the best bang for my buck.
