Had pick up.my 3700x at computer mania. Frontosa told me that want R1000 more now before can pick up it up.They doing a wootware now, told them screw it and waiting for refund. 3700x R7300 at frontosa and wootware. Computer mania only want R7000. Evetech cheaper but massive delays atm

Thanks for feedback earlier, evetech haven't really gotten back to me speedily or accurately so about to push the button on the following from Wootware, which does seem significantly more expensive but based on feedback here it seems a premium worth paying.

Does this all make sense, seem reasonable. Only thing I'm questionable about is the HDD and perhaps getting smaller one and a larger SSD. In terms of windows you guys recommend I pick it up through the netgear chap?
I'm not ordering a GPU, i've got a GTX1070 I'll plug in.

3700x booted first time, from a 1800x.

Just need check temps seems bit hot 68c, but so far ok.

Just had set memory back xmp speeds

There will be B550 options to look at that will be cheaper.

It's a bit ironic that AMD's gotten a ton of praise for the longevity of their support but it's topped out just 1 CPU generation longer than Intel. It also looks like an arbitrary decision to not support Ryzen 3 on boards that could run it fine. The Tomahawk Max (as Tim points out) and MSI's other Max boards doesn't have the BIOS limitation AMD is using as the reason for their decision.

Hopefully this isn't final. I only got my Tomahawk Max / 3600 in December last year - if I'd known B450 was a dead-end socket, I would have waited for B550.

Yes seems odd because they do support them just a bios update required.

A bigger SSD is always a joy, you can get this pcie4 nvme https://www.wootware.co.za/sabrent-...-2-2280-nvme-pci-e-4-0-solid-state-drive.html

Wrt motherboards some x570 boards from msi have piss poor vrm performance and run really hot, I would check out hardware unboxed & gamers nexus reviews to make sure you don't buy one of the bad msi ones.

I don't see why they can't remove say athlon, 1x00 & 2x00 support from the bios leaving space for 3&4 series. When the 3 series came out some manufacturers got around the size limitation issue by providing a graphically stripped down bios also leaving out some of the older & lower end cpus. Hopefully they can do the same again.

Thanks, I've decided to go with the x570 in order to futureproof - reviews on this one are pretty sound. Is Sabrent decent, i know samsung is pricy but safe option.
 
Hey boffins, putting together a new PC soon and was just wondering if anyone felt like naming a couple PSU brands and maybe some decent cases that are reliable. It's been a long long time since I was in the loop. All the usual suspects brand wise of course but now there's all these unknown to me brands here in the UK and I was wondering if they are any good. Much appreciated in advance.
