Thanks so much, helpful suggestions here. Why you say "avoid maintenance of an AIO?" I have no experience besides my own single purchase but my cooler master water cooling lasted 3 years without issue, didn't make noise which is nice, but didn't keep it as cool as I'd hoped (80c under load with turbo for 7700K), so your suggestion with 12-gen heat makes sense. Just scared of having a potential jet engine noise.
I've seen all the complaints about Evetech here but they're so much cheaper :(, bought from them before with no problem but I hear you.
Yea I probably should have been more clear there, sorry. No maintenance really, just more potential points of failure. They can leak and if it does, that's potentially your PC up in smoke. Additionally, they do lose water over time and aren't refillable so it will need replacement at some point. An air-cooler can't fail, it's just a block of metal. The fans could fail but they can be replaced. I say this as someone also running an AIO. Then again, quality has improved over the years so maybe it isn't an issue now.

The issue with Evetech is they are cheaper, but their after sale / warranty service is pathetic, bordering on criminal. There are a lot of articles about but the R300 extra is worth it for a supplier who will honour warranty claims without hassle. That piece of mind alone is worth the extra.

Anyone bought from EKD Onlkine?
Some good pricing for 10th gen i3 CPU but I've not heard of these guys before?

Not familiar with them hey.

I see Progenix still have stock of 10th gen though, maybe check them out. I've used them before a few times, solid service. The owner is actually on this forum, I just forget his username.

Finished it up other day.

Very easy case to build in, tons of space and very easy to route cables.

Case need those additional ll120 fans which I should get today.

Got some 2nd hand ones for for R1000 for the 3 that I need.

H100 Water cooler and corsair ram should finish me up look wise. Then I will see what I will do with upgrading performance

That looks like a monster of a case :-).

Any recommendations for 24 inch 144hz monitor that pivot? Can't fit my 3rd monitor in the desk with the bigger case now :(

I forgot my dell 27 on my laptop does pivot, so decided to use that.

But 2070 super can't run all 3 monitors at 144hz even know all connected vis display port . So the Dell that's now in pivot only run 1440p 60hz :(

You'll get used to it, my Lenovo laptop can't run anything over 60hz on the HDMI port cause it's hdmi 1.4 and I don't have a usb type c to displayport adapter.

Not sure, I know my 3070ti has got one more dport vs my 2060 super, but not sure it's all v2?

Seems on rtx 3070 they all 1.4a.

Going swap ports around, see if can keep 24 inch FHD at 144hz and hoping then 27 inch can run 144hz 1440p

1.4a is fine for 1440p 144hz as far as I know

What case is that? How much? :p If I can afford it, might be a nice replacement for my Gigabyte 3D Aurora o_O.

Edit: Way too much monies. Lucky fish you are.

This might've been (partly) covered here already, but 2 questions below I have to do with the quotes highlighted ....

"AMD has set Fall 2022 as the official launch window for the first Zen 4 products, the Ryzen 7000 series for desktop PCs (codenamed Raphael). For the US, Fall begins on September 22 and ends on December 22, meaning we'll see Ryzen 7000 by the end of the year."

"Even though all Ryzen 7000 chips will have baked-in iGPUs, the company will still release Zen 4 APUs with beefier iGPUs."

1. How long after these new chips are released overseas, can we expect retailers in SA to get them in stock?

ie. would it typically be a matter of weeks, or months down the line, notwithstanding supply chain issues.

2. Is there, also typically, a delay from the time the CPUs are released to the time the APUs are?

(as I'd like to thereafter do a build using the new Ryzen architecture, centred around an APU, as I don't game, but want it more for running the odd VM or two).

1. We get them the same or next day, these released on 5Nov2020 and they were available on 6Nov2020 locally https://mybroadband.co.za/news/hard...rocessors-south-african-pricing-revealed.html

2. Look at the historical release dates (ignore OEM dates) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Ryzen_processors

2. No idea, but Zen 3 release November 2020, while the Zen 3 APU's released Auguest 2021

Howzit,

I wouldn't get a Z690 board unless there's a feature you specifically require that a B660 board doesn't have. It has better overclocking capabilities but you don't have an overclocking processor (that would be the 12600K) so it would be a waste. I'd save the money and upgrade that AIO to a 240/280mm. Intel 12th Gen runs hot, you're going to want better cooling for the CPU.

Also, never buy from Evetech.

I would do something like this. Faster and unlocked CPU so you can overclock if you want to. This cooler has really good reviews and Gamers Nexus were happy with it's performance. Less maintenance than an AIO and it's capable of keeping this CPU cool.

Thanks for the advice bud, went for all the parts you recommended and loving it. This CPU's a beast and the Scythe is awesome, so quiet and cool, this CPU chills at 25-40 and barely hits 50 under load, can't say I even miss watercooling with this, I was hitting 80 on my old 7700K with watercooling.

Why did you go with a K cpu?
Because Urban told me to . I'm kidding, I don't tend to overclock but seems you can overclock a little bit on B660 boards. Could change board in the future when it starts to lose its pace in a few years.
