Or a nvme a slow ssd pc? Hehe.
I have a Samsung nvme on a 5600X and a Samsung SSD on a12-year old i7. There is not a marked difference in startup time or in the time required to open the bigger programs. Sure, the nvme is faster, but not by THAT much.


OTOH, I recently upgraded my sister's 15-year old i5 laptop. I measured the before and after start-up times. This dropped from 1 minute 45 second down to 18 seconds, after simply cloning the disk and putting in the SSD.

SSD to NVME is an incremental change.
HDD to SSD is like wow

Yeah the difference is not really noticeable, a stopwatch will tell you it's like 1-2sec. Plenty of benchmarks out there.

Given the choice between a super fast nvme SSD and a bigger SATA SSD I would opt for size.

Depends if you are doing i/o intesive work? a 500/500 ssd isn't quite the same as 7000/7000 nvme.

Besides...There is the DirectStorage API

Data whores on sata, gaming drives currently on ssd moving with os to nvmes. Unless someone donate for 2x 4tb nvmes...

Ultimately, I doudt the data bus on an old laptop will allow you to benefit from the faster nvme.

Tho I would not mind, an adapter that would take 2x nvme drives into a single sata drive adapter.

I've only looked at pcie 3x to nvme but then you don't get pcie 4.0 however still faster than the odd 500/500.
 
Decided to buy used 3090ti suprimx was a steal at R16600 shipped within usa with the 100 dollar employee discount

Damn it, Everyshop had the ASUS RX 6500 XT OC Edition for unbelievably R3k and I was about to buy it today once I deposited money into my account but the thing got sold out >:V, luckily they have a Gigabyte one for the same price but not OC so I bought that one instead, I'll lose a few MHz and won't have any RGB but I'll still get dedicated card at such a low price.

OC is pretty useless, pretty much all cards scale there overclock based in tempature. Better cooling more import so it can keep boost clocks for longer

How much are those cards normally?
 
And in gaming workloads, the company says that even the (relatively) diminutive 6-core 7600X will outperform the 12900K by an average of 5%. Which to be sure, that doesn’t have AMD winning everything, but a 6 core configuration is about as close as you can get to Zen 4 fighting with one hand behind its proverbial back.
Overall, AMD is claiming that the Ryzen 7000 series will deliver 11% better gaming performance than the 12900K, as well as 44% better performance in highly multithreaded content creation applications. Which, if this proves true in independent evaluation, certainly stands to put the Ryzen 7000 well into the lead for this forthcoming generation of PC processors.
 

That’s amazing, a cpu that will run at 5.7ghz single core stock with no user oc and still be a 16 core beast. The performance bump is crazy, it’s going to make the 5950x look positively sluggish.
For people that do lots of heavy lifting that cpu is going to be amazing, insane single core clock and all core clock of 4.5ghz to smoke through any workload.

“The top-end Ryzen 9 7950X will have a maximum turbo clockspeed of 5.7GHz, 800MHz (16%) higher than the equivalent Ryzen 9 5950X. As a result, AMD expects to deliver a 29% generational increase in single-threaded performance, and even more in multi-threaded workloads.”
