I think the writing is, pretty much, on the wall for SA cricket...

I know @stefan9 will disagree with me, but from my perspective it's looking rather dire... Sure, Sri Lanka isn't the easiest place to tour but we shouldn't be getting schooled by, what are essentially, borderline minnows of world cricket....

World Cup winning minnows who've had at various points the best batsmen and bowlers in the world

I saw a decent tour. Won the odi's but lost the test series 1-0. It's a big improvement over the last few efforts.
I saw good signs from a lot of youngsters.

Good for the Lions

The DP World Lions are thrilled to welcome former Protea Captain, batsman and multiple record holder, Hashim Amla as the teams batting coach. Commencing immediately, the three-year partnership will see Amla work alongside DP World Lions Head Coach Russell Domingo in all three formats of the game. 40-year-old Amla was a run scoring machine with multiple records to his name including being named as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2013. Having played in all three formats of the game, Amla holds the record for the fastest ever player to score 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs.

He also became the fastest cricketer to reach 10 ODI centuries and in January 2018, breaking Virat Kohli’s record for being the fastest cricketer to reach 27 centuries in ODI cricket.

So we have a world cup starting in October? Is that right?

There's so much hype over the rugby world cup starting soon, the cricket is well and truly out of site and out of mind at the moment...

Maybe because it was a stupid standard to begin with. Other countries have similar, but use it as a guideline only.

Just because other countries have it, does not make it good idea ...

And if you have to have it, create with sane criteria.

Just saying.

Merit should be the only criterion for selection. But this is quota South Africa, so that is not valid here.

Seems like here we just feck forth, with our eyes closed, and hope we don't fall into a ditch somewhere.
