Due to his own decisions. He had established himself as a regular in the 50 over side but decided to chase £££ when kolpak was the rage. Lost 5 years of international cricket due to it. He made lots from it but I wonder when he looks back on it in years to come if he will regret it.

Money only lasts so long. A legacy lasts a lot longer. Also a bigger legacy enables higher earning potential down the line.

I don't think it's as simple as more £££ is better.
Don't think he goes kolpak if there were as many leagues about then as now.

In ODI's you're pretty disposable and as I recall he got a foot injury so decided to call it quits for SA.
Ironically made a comeback and ended up as top run scorer for SA in a failed T20 world cup.

Also your earlier comment about legacy. Which specialist ODI player that you can you think of, has established a memorable legacy?

Bevan. Can also argue kluseners legacy is build on his white ball exploits more then anything he did in tests.
