Did you misread your own post? You said he'll never play for SA again.

Quote was in reference to tests, but if we are going to be specific about it.

I personally still don't think we'll see AB playing tests for SA again

He chose not to play test cricket yet. Comparing the strain that someting like test cricket will put on your body to that of T20 quite silly... Dont you think fitness is also a factor here? These guys are playing a lot of cricket and I think easing into it is a wise decision.

Oh come off it - how many players in history have come back from injuries and got straight back into the team - I'm not buying this BS.

just a side note I dont think AB will play test cricket again either, but we will have to wait for after the Eng tour, so basically after the champions Trophy.

Maybe he will be playing against IND when they come here or when AUS come here for 5 tests...

exactly what you quoted there.

the elbow not 100% yet, and the surgeon said that would be normal...

no where is it said that his elbow will not be 100%. The surgeon said it will be normal - as in there is no risk of re-injury.

So you dont agree that the three formats of the game are three entirely different beasts? He has been off for how long now? Also, should he just go straight back into the team?

they are different beasts yes - but to think that players can't play tests after a long absence is nonsensical. Yes, he should walk straight back in - he has proven his class over the last decade.

I'm aware of my elbow.

ever had a joint injury? being aware of a joint injury is a nice way of saying it still hurts when I do this thing, but I have full movement.
that is what the surgeon said would be normal

So why not let the recovery takes its course and reassess his fitness closer to the England series? why pull out 6 months in advance????

Why is it nonsensical? The amount that the three formats take out of your body is not the same and Im sure that after being off for so long he would like to spend some time behind the bat before he runs out to bat in a test and spending time in the crease for a couple of sessions....

Also, can you imagine what the response will be if he performs poorly after walking straight back in?

cold weather in england = joints will hurt more. logical call for a jooint injury to a 32 year old.

why pull out of bangladesh tour? because if he playes one he plays both.

that and his next kid will be born around the time of the eng tour so he would prefer to be home.

but hey, keep saying its because of greed and retiring...

what response would there be? no one would call for his dropping.

you make it seem like this pro athlete never played 5 day cricket before. his body and mind is accustomed to it and provided his fitness levels are up for it, he should be there no question. He's obviously fit enough for a 100 over game and that should be enough to make the jump to test matches.

even if he is recovering, why rule himself out of the England series so far in advance? the series is 6 ****ing months away!

I've never said its about greed - I'm doubting his commitment to our national test team. If he doesn't want to play ( and I don't think he wants to) just ****ing retire and move on with it.

EDIT: you actually saying he thinking about his joint pain in during the england tour? why not make that call closer to the time? its ridiculous

how old are you?

I am 30.
I had a wrist injury to my left wrist in 2002. sprained it in the last game of the rugby season.

it never bothered me again until about 2010 when I would have pain there from time to time, nothing serious, felt like a finger that needed to click.

now, 7 years later, on a windy morning like today here in PTA where there is a slight chill in the air, if I push a door open wiht my left hand the pain is the same as the original sprain.

AB is 2 years older than me, has just had surgery to is elbow, and now people are expecting this new pain he has never felt is going to be gone by june? and then you want him to go stand out in the field for 2 days to field, and at least 1 day when he bats?

I can see why he would prefer the shorter format.
I did also say I dont think he will play tests again but we will have to see when the end of year tours happen.
