how old are you?

I am 30.
I had a wrist injury to my left wrist in 2002. sprained it in the last game of the rugby season.

it never bothered me again until about 2010 when I would have pain there from time to time, nothing serious, felt like a finger that needed to click.

now, 7 years later, on a windy morning like today here in PTA where there is a slight chill in the air, if I push a door open wiht my left hand the pain is the same as the original sprain.

AB is 2 years older than me, has just had surgery to is elbow, and now people are expecting this new pain he has never felt is going to be gone by june? and then you want him to go stand out in the field for 2 days to field, and at least 1 day when he bats?

I can see why he would prefer the shorter format.
I did also say I don't think he will play tests again but we will have to see when the end of year tours happen.

Fair point.

AB would have been out of test cricket for almost 2 years, being 33/34 at that point in time, will he be able to perform at his best? At what cost to the test team. Nobody questions his class though.

I dont think he wants to make his comeback in a 3 months+ tour away from home, with his mind being at home with his wife and the birth of his second child. Plus it helps the selectors' problem for thr next year.

I have always seen AB as the most passionate cricketer, the way he plays and the way he talks and the example he sets for others. There must be another reason at play, such as the above, other than him not being committed. It is not like him.

Reading Ali Bacher's comments on cricinfo made me realise that I was being unfair on AB. My apologies :(

thank you for the link Wall. it was a good read.

and yes Manner's Article. and as shocking as it was,it does unfortunately reflect on a lot of the public opinion. and is laced with personal Bias, much like the public opinion.

for now, lets simply hope to see AB play in the last T20I against SL.

importantly we gain something from this.

AB is going to play 4 day cricket for the titans. this means we will all have more opportunities to see him play live. and lets be honest that is something we all really want.
him not being in the T20 team is why I did not book tickets over December.

and when I get paid I will try book tickets for the pink game, doubt I will get any, but I will try regardless.

I'm going to the game tomorrow, but I see the last Gautrain departs from Centurion station at 20:50.
This would mean I'll probably miss the end of the game.
Is there any chance that they have later trains for sporting events like this?

not that I know of unfortunately

I wanted to mock the way the tests ended early and we outplayed them, then I remembered this is a T20 and its actually going to be an interesting game.

Ngidi. The only bit of brightness on today's wallop. Question though, if l may, has he played any 4 day first class cricket? And his performance today, is the lad got similar potential as Rabada?

He certainly looked decent. Great pace and control. If this wasn't a flash in the pan, which I somehow doubt it was, he could be an awesome get for the Proteas.

He certainly looked decent enough to earn a call to play in the ODIs.

Shaun Pollock mentioned on-air that he did work with him and rate Ngidi as a guy with potential. I definitely think he has the potential to do well in the Test arena. He can fulfill the role that Morkel used to do behind Philander and Steyn.

The bowling stock at test level is looking like it is sorting itself out. Olivier can take-over from Philander when he goes, KG has taken over Steyn's role en Ngidi can do the 3rd seamer role in the future. CSA just need to enforce that Ngidi must get some FC game time under the belt to help him develop.

Another Protea signs Kolpak deal
http://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/another-protea-signs-kolpak-deal-20170127

Cape Town - Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Dane Vilas has signed a two-year Kolpak deal with English county side, Lancashire.

Vilas, 31, will join up with Lancashire in March.

Vilas made his Test debut for South Africa against Bangladesh in August 2015 and most recently appeared as a late replacement for Quinton de Kock in the Test series against England in January 2016.

He has played in six Tests and one T20I for the Proteas and 96 first class matches for the Cape Cobras, scoring 7 580 runs at an average of nearly 40.

"Signing a player of Dane's undoubted calibre and experience is a great boost as we continue our preparations ahead of the new season. He has an excellent record in First Class cricket and is a very good wicket keeper," Lancashire coach Glen Chapple told the club's official website.

"Dane's aggressive batting style will see him as an important part of our T20 and one-day sides in 2017, as well as four day cricket."

"Lancashire is one of the biggest clubs in England and I'm really excited about this opportunity to play my cricket at Old Trafford this summer," Vilas said after signing the deal.

"I'm relishing the opportunity of playing county cricket this summer. It's going to be a huge challenge personally and I'm already looking forward to linking up with the squad ahead of the start to the season.

"There are a lot of exciting players in the squad and we'll be hoping to challenge for silverware in all competitions."

This will be a further blow for Cricket South Africa, who have lost several players to Kolpak deals in recent times.

David Wiese, Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw, Colin Ingram, Stiaan van Zyl, Simon Harmer and Hardus Viljoen are other Proteas players who have opted for greener pastures.

Players who sign Kolpak deals in England are unavailable for South Africa in international cricket.

Out of all these

Vilas is certainly the one who is least likely to see action for the national team.

Agreed. Villas wont see protea colours again.
competing against AB, QDK and the new guy from the T20 series who actually looks promising.

never really rated Villas anyway.

It's like anyone other keeper getting a look in during the Boucher days. With QdK, no one realistically stands a chance. I remember meeting Nic Pothas the once and all I got from it was how frustrated he was.

We have lots of quality young keepers.

Rudi Second Ages 27 First-Class averages 40 List A 47, scored back to back 100's in the last 2 rounds of the Sunfoil series.

Heinrich Klaasen Ages 25 First-Class averages 48 List A 22 T20 37, Socres most his run for Northerns. Needs to proof his can score run for The Titans.

Nicky van den Bergh Ages 27 First-Class averages 37 List A 19, Dropped the glove to Mosehle this year and moved up the order to no.4. Good keeper and averages almost 40 for the Lions in First-Class Cricket.

I think we have more than enough keepers for the national team and the A team.
