Playing India in India IS a tough prospect.

New youngsters will be a breathe of fresh air though. West Indies and Sri Lanka have had a bit of that lately, even though they were at home. 2016 a young Sri Lanka molested a tough Australia in Sri Lanka. Few saw it coming. A young West Indies bruised England in England in 2017, then went on to thump them early this year.

I thought Bavuma was solid in 2015 when he was brought in rather surprisingly as an opener. Hamza and Muthusamy will be at home against spin. Elgar stubborn as always, and Faf will fight. You never know with QdK and TdB - a century won't be surprising neither would a duck. Markram has averaged about 33-34 in the second half of his career. I don't see that improving.

I think Maharaj, Piedt assisted by Rabada and Muthusamy (not sure about Philander), will ensure 20 wickets. I expect better returns than 2015.

Cricket South Africa has hired former all-rounder Lance Klusener as one of three assistant coaches for the September and October tour of India.
Klusener was the head coach of the Brampton Wolves in the 2019 edition of the Global T20 Canada. He was due to work with the Glasgow Giants in the Euro T20 Slam later this month. The tournament, however, has been postponed. He also coached Zimbabwe and the Dolphins – and worked with the Proteas previously.
‘In terms of the new team structure the team director appoints his three assistant coaches who have specific skills focus in the three key disciplines of batting, bowling and fielding,’ said acting director of cricket Corrie van Zyl.
‘Klusener will fill the role of assistant coach [batting] for the T20I series only. His record as one of the best all-rounders in the world, particularly in white-ball cricket, during his playing career speaks for itself and he also has extensive coaching experience both at franchise and international level.
‘Vincent Barnes will be the assistant coach [bowling]. He also has extensive coaching experience at international level and his knowledge of playing conditions in India will make his contribution invaluable.
‘Justin Ontong will fill the role of assistant coach [fielding]. He has built up a strong relationship with the players over the last two years and is an acknowledged expert in this department.’
The Proteas and India will contest three T20Is and as many Tests. Lions head coach Enoch Nkwe will be the tourists’ team director, after the outgoing Ottis Gibson’s tenure was not extended.
‘Enoch is targeting a batting coach who has extensive knowledge of Indian conditions for the Test series and we will be in a position to announce this successful candidate shortly,’ added Van Zyl.
‘As previously announced, all the technical staff – performance analyst Prasanna Agoram, strength and conditioning coach Greg King and physiotherapist Craig Govender – have been retained.
‘Unfortunately, Craig has recently undergone knee surgery, so a temporary replacement will travel with the team to India.’

This is a good set of support staff. Interesting that Klusener is the batting coach. I wonder if his job will be more on the mental side of things or about technique.

Seems he is appointed for the t20 games and a more experienced with indian conditions guy will do the tests.

Let's hope he can knock some sense into his old protege Andile on this tour. He really needs to apply himself to the batting.

Fast bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen have been added to the South Africa A squad for the four-day matches on their upcoming tour of India. Ngidi and Jansen were named in place of Beuran Hendricks and Anrich Nortje, who are part of the senior T20I squad that will take on India in a three-match series starting from September 15. South Africa A's two four-day matches against India A, meanwhile, will be played between September 10 and 13, and September 17 and 20.

There were also changes to the South Africa A coaching staff. Malibongwe Maketa replaced Russell Domingo as the South Africa A coach, following the latter's appointment as the Bangladesh head coach. Andrew Puttick was named assistant coach, replacing Enoch Nkwe, who was recently appointed as South Africa's interim team director.
South Africa A will begin their tour of India with the five-match one-day series against India A in Thiruvananthapuram from August 29, followed by the two four-day matches.

Z. Hamza should've been selected instead of De Bruyn in this second test. Elgar seems to be the only one who looks comfortable against the spin though.

Maharaj and Vilander showed the top order how it's done with their 100 odd stand. The reason why they did well? They're just playing their natural game without the fear of getting out and the pressure of scoring runs.

It looks like everyone in that team needs a bit more pressure to score runs.

I tend to agree with Dr Bacher.... lets be honest, any other international captain would have been wholly sacked after that WC performance.

For the ODI team, the WC cycle has ended and we need to get cracking ASAP.

I always thought that Faf would stay on for the England series and then hand over the reigns.

Graeme Smith interviewed for team director this week. Other candidates are corrie van zyl and hussein manack.

The right choice would obviously be Graeme. Faf,temba and de bruyn would be very worried if that happens.

Graeme has withdrawn citing he doesn't have confidence that he would be given the freedom necessary to enact the needed changes.

So in other csa wants a yes man and graeme smith will never be a yes man. Sad state of affairs...
