The RC Car hobby thread

I am looking for something like the HSP 03007 Motor Mount.
Only difference would then be that both sides have motor mounting bracket. (and the screw placement of the new side would only have one screw).

I would like to mount it on this chassis:

Thus if you look at where the bracket is supposed to go there can be 4 mounting screws.

Hi Guys

Any suggestions for good bashing spots near Fourways?
I have an 1/8 Electric and my boys have 1/10 Electric.
Have been to some open Parks but it becomes tiresome quickly when you cant jump

I had similar issue.
Parks get boring thus I built a pair ramps out of wood and hardboard and take them with to the park.
Build a small type of course at the park with the ramps and enjoy.

I have an oldish nitro RC car in the garage I need to get working again. Seems nitro is not for everyone these days and electric is where it's at.

Is this an accurate assumption?

I am also looking at building some ramps.
I was hoping to find some parks with natural ramps or bike tracks which would allow driving on quiet times.
I had a Nitro RC 10 years ago and it drove me nuts till I sold it!
Would be great if there was a social club where people bashed together every so often.

For me yes. I prefer electric as people complain about nitro when you are at a park or in the suburbs.
Electric I can race up and down the road or at parks in the suburbs. Nitro neighbors will complain like hell.

Going to the park I just take a lot of batteries and I have a charger that works off the car.

Are there proper decent alternatives to Nitro then?
I'd miss the noise and smoke though. :(

Nitro is still a thing, it's just noiser.

The one thing I am not too fond of, with Nitro is the constant starting issues I experienced. But I think I will rive the Nitro RC I have one more time and see where we go from there. Might even just replace the motor.

Well it's that or stopping to swap out batteries :-)

For me I bought a brushed Bronto with NIMH batteries.....(not so good).
Replaced the motor with a (over-powered) brushless and LiPo batteries.

The thing runs like a demon.
I have 3x LiPo 5300mAH 7,4V 2S 30C batteries.
As soon as the first is flat I put it on charge swap battery and on we go.

I used to fly nitro planes and it was always a pain cleaning it afterwards.
With the battery it is a lot cleaner...and quieter.

Some people prefer nitro some batteries.
For me batteries just give me more options and places to drive it.

Those are fair points. How long does a single charge last?

That depends. Flat out roughly 15mins. Driving slowly I got about 30min.

Difficult to accurately determine as I normally crash or flip the car.

So just like anything then. :)

I'll get the Nitro RC running again and then take it from there. The noise is an issue, but I live down a quite closed off street. So hopefully not too much of a problem,

Yup even with my old brushed bronto 15 minutes was about tops.

Any recommendations where I can try and sell some old RC cars in Pretoria? I have an old Blitzer Beetle and Midnight Pumpkin plus a petrol operated racing car. All three have their remotes.

I have an issue with a HobbyWing 10BL120 sensored ESC.
What it is doing is reverse is faster than forward. Tried programming the ESC but no dice.

Anybody else had a similar problem and how to fix it?
I cant swap the wires as it is sensor-ed.
It was working then rebuilt the car/upgraded the car parts but now it has the reverse issue.

Can you PM me the details of all three please?
(If you still have them)

So, the question I have this morning:

Should I rebuild the Nitro car (Thinking of upgrading the motor and suspension parts) or should I ditch Nitro and go to electric... which would be more expensive to get started.
