Saturday morning at breakfast I told my wife about all the hype that the Boks will play for Eben's father and how emotional it will be and telling us that we are the favorites. Well how k@k will it be if we loose.

One thing about the Boks they always play better as the under dogs.
 
Another reason why we were also "switched off", especially during the first 20 mins. is that the majority of players have not played competative rugby for well over 6 weeks. The Kiwi's only finished Superugby 2 weeks ago. So they were more battle hardened than us. The "rust" showed. Other players, like Eben, has just returned from injury. Not an excuse for us losing but i think played a role.

The off the field suspensions is getting ridiculous and you need to be a really pathetic person if you want someone like sexton suspended form the world cup. That is just bad sportsmanship.

In the good old days if you talked back to the ref he would just give the other team a penalty or move the penalty up by 10m that's all that is necessary.

Treating refs like sacred cows that cannot be criticized is stupid. There's way to many Karens involved in the administration and news media.

All he did was argue with the ref after the game. This should not be punishable in any way.

It's not about being pathetic or getting revenge. It's about setting a consistant level of punishment. Some players are given longer "sentences", while some players seem to get preferential treatment. There is no consistancy. What is being asked for is fair punishment for all. Rassie was not even a player and he got a very harsh penalty for attacking the ref. Yet Sexton only gets a 3-game ban? Come on.

Yes and the consistent level of punishment should be nothing for criticizing a ref.

Saying because Rassie got an unjust harsh punishment everyone else should too is stupid.

It was at the end of the game. What are the refs going to do? Call the players back for a penalty?

I was this and get so pissed off. Refs are almost always erratic and nothing is done about them.
The guy points out the SA #4 doing a neck roll along with a NZ player doing the same thing and this seemed to be about the most fair part of it all. He got both wrong.

Why are refs allowed to continue reffing like this?

That's exactly the point. If a player disrespect the ref during the game penalized his team, it isn't soccer.

But after the game. That's just stupid to want to punish the player or a coach.

Nope, you're not thinking this one through. It's not on social media where he would get a slap on the wrist. He wasn't supposed to be there. It has zip to do with soccer.
Get your head around this one. You're wrong.
 
I'm all for not putting refs on a pedestal and yes, sometimes they have a crap day at work and should be held responsible for it.

That being said, who would want to become a ref if you risk constant abuse from players and supporters? Not just talking the paid professionals here, also bear in mind the club level refs where the supporters can create a very hostile environment, especially when the liquor starts flowing. If you don't know what I'm referring to you, haven't attended a local countryside rugby match for a long time.

So you are saying that something that already exists is bad and will prevent people from becoming refs, when that is clearly not the case?

Even at high-school level refs do get paid.

At professional level they make a shítload of money
 
The alternative is the American football style where every call is reviewed and reviewable.

The level of refereeing in professional sports is greatly improved from what it was 5 / 10 years ago and it can only get better. As long as there is a human element it will always be erratic
