No, it's not saying that at all because the ANC and DA won't be in a coalition together. It only matters when you are in a coalition together that the size of the vote should matter. How can Action SA seriously say their policy X should prevail over the DA's policy Y if Action SA only achieved 5% of the national vote compared to the DA's 25%?

True. Sort of mean now it's clearly the 2nd biggest party and has been for four consecutive elections, spanning 20 years. That's a lot of staying power given all the parties that entered the SA political space and collapsed subsequently (e.g. Cope, UDM, Agang, Independent Democrats, PAC etc)

True. Sort of mean now it's clearly the 2nd biggest party and has been for four consecutive elections, spanning 20 years. That's a lot of staying power given all the parties that entered the SA political space and collapsed subsequently (e.g. Cope, UDM, Agang, Independent Democrats, PAC etc)

Because it is ActionSA and they are indebted to the Oppenheimers, they will probably have to agree with everything the DA tells them, otherwise there is really nothing that makes the DA the leader of the opposition, if ActionSA were not in a corner they would take their 5% and slam the door on their way out.

Can't wait for the extremely arrogant Lesufi to be kicked out next year! I wonder if he's really thought about his electoral bribe...oops I mean job creation scheme. There are going to be far more disappointed job seekers than successful job applicants.

Steenhuisen was speaking at his party’s Gauteng provincial congress in Boksburg on Saturday. This as the province seems set to be the battleground in 2024's general elections, with many parties seeking to push the ANC out of power.

We are agreed that the ANC is between the DA and EFF. I'm not sure that the ANC will split meaningfully. More breakaway parties are likely, but I think that the ANC core will remain.

I agree that the DP/DA has shown staying power and that most newer parties have not lasted long or held onto their initial election's vote share.
 
Staying power is good, it's like a team that has maged to stay in the Premier league for 20 years, but at some point the owners and the supporters should ask themselves if it isn't time to go past the stage of just being a team in the PSL.

Because truly being a 20% opposition party talks more about the quality of the other opposition parties than your own ability. I think if the EFF were not so repulsive they could have long gone past the DA.

Let's say the moonshot pact, with all its good intentions, fails to get 50% + 1 at the polls. The ANC then threatens to govern with the EFF. Would the moonshotters rather sit back and watch Koeberg explode because the DA signed an agreement not to make a deal with the ANC? It seems like a silly condition to make, and feels like it's just being used as political leverage.
