It's not illegal to have dealings with Russia. The sanctions are between Russia, the US and Europe plus some of their close allies. They don't prohibit other countries having dealings with Russia as far as I am aware.
If true, we're aiding and abetting the Russians... You know... The okes currently at war, with Western-backed Ukraine. The West which is our biggest trading partner (US/UK/EU)... While we act "neutral"...

The US and rest of the West will go after our studios. AGOA will definitely be revoked.

If they feel extra spiteful, they might as well sanction us too.

True. The US are effectively demanding that we act the neutral we claim to be instead of supporting Russia and being hostile to the west. It seems the US have been talking to SA behind the scenes without much traction so they called that press briefing to force SA to commit a position. The SA government like to use their megaphone against the west but get uncomfortable when the tables are turned.

Top 5 countries we exported to:Top 5 countries we imported from:
  1. China (10.5%)
  2. United States (7.5%)
  3. Germany (6.5%)
  4. Japan (6.2%)
  5. Netherlands (4.8%)
  1. China (18.5%)
  2. Germany (8.0%)
  3. United States (7.6%)
  4. India (6.9%)
  5. Nigeria (4.3%)

Yup. The ANC wants Western aid and money but wants to help their Russian "friends" at the same time.

This is a classic example of wanting your cake and eating it too.

Oh btw:

Rand hits new record low amid Russia furore

On Friday morning, the rand was in freefall, hitting a record R19.47/$ amid the South African arms-to-Russia scandal.

The rand slump will fuel more inflation, as most of SA's fuel is imported. This may have cemented a 25 basis points or 50 basis points hike at the end of May.
Remember when it was R15 per $...?

It's always the opposition's fault...

/sighs...

But then again, this is the same oke who declared ASA and the DA to be like the Republicans in the US, so...
It's always someone's fault, but the real fault lies with the voter.

Hahahahahahaha... :coffee:

"Modise had said the government would need to apply its mind on the matter and not hastily give answers."

This .... Makes me crack open another bottle of whisky.
