Not sure what you said besides the rumour you heard about the IFP mayor, which is a bad idea that doesn't make any sense for any political party. Point me to the post it's something else.
No I meant what I said about what the new mayor needs to do regardless of party.

The ANC have a very big hole to climb out of in Durban. Thier blindness and ignorance that last few years has been on the wall and they refused to see it, even after getting a large smack in the last local elections PRE riots.

If they had been serious, they would have recalled the mayor a long time ago.

RISE spoke about support through merit and need determination by poverty, also mentorship programs vs others.

Nothing wrong with them being part of the "GNU", it's a memorandum of understanding between parties but each are still able to vote thier conscience, there isn't a gun to thier heads.

Put it this way, woukd you rather have a calm dissident of possible opinion in a group or the rabid mongerings of populist extremism? The progressive caucas is anything but.

Agreeing to disagree is a valid stance in people who work together. The absolute worst thing, and this is from boards and bodies I have worked on, is the expectation of 100% consensus in a agreement to be valid.
ANC/DA/IFP = 67%.. There is no need for more cooks in the kitchen.

Yeah, the ANC there was caught up in Zuma politics when everyone moved on, predictably, they have paid dearly for it, they are probably not going to recover in time for 2026, there is currently no ANC in KZN, it's like starting afresh, all the ANC they thought they had was Zuma people.

But the sooner they begin, the better, the new eThekwini mayor will be a good start.

One chap I work with is a staunch ANC supporter. He firmly believes the bad apples have now all moved on : MK , EFF amd they can rebuild to what thier ideals are.

Wish him luck but as with all politics, proof is in the pudding and time will tell.

Our parties need to realise, on municipal level, they should focus on service delivery and nothing else. Leave politics for national government.

Spoke to a friend in EU. Their local small governments doesn't do politics at all. They do service delivery and that's it. It works very well for them.

Well RISE said they will not look or ask for posts in the GNU but rather focus on legislature and serving on committees etc.

That's rather a mature stance from a young party.

100%. Politics should be about laws and legislation, service delivery is for everyone.

Lotsbof comments by smaller parties and a certain party I think have lost them any hope of getting support. The stance of don't cry to me if you didn't vote for me is not the way to win votes.

If you solve my problem over someone else, do you think one would keep on supporting the other? Love to see how those folks deal with mechanics.

Although I know a few suckered who take their cars back to the same idiot who f**** them up in the first place.

Don't believe a word they say. It was by dumb luck that we found out about their stance on land which isn't written down anywhere.

He's worse than the token white guy in the EFF.

Oooo... that might be a hard call to make... They're very different types of retards that serve no purpose at all.

Maybe we should organise a death match fight between them to see who is the bigger retard.

Politics cannot really be left out, it's all about managing your politics so that they are not in conflict with service delivery.

I don't know how the politics in the EU your friend is in works, but here our local representatives are deployed by political parties, so you can't really want to define yourself outside of the political party that deployed you.

I think its more that national/provincial politics and ideologies get dragged to the front when they should be in the background and not interfere/impact service delivery like they have in eThekwini.

In a very simplistic fashion, I want to be able to vote for a party that campaigns on Service Delivery issues in a LGE, whilst having some cognizance of the parties ideologies at a national/provincial level.
