Well, yes, we can agree with that. One of the analysts, can't remember which one mentioned the other day that the IFP also didn't actually win KZN in 94. There was a problem with the vote count there and Mandela just opted to surrender it to them to avoid a big conflict.

In hindsight, Mandela probably did the right thing even though he probably won that Province. There is a good chance there would have been violence if he opted to dispute it.

But I wonder if it was the same with the National Party having won WC in 1994.

There are similarities but I think it could be somebody else, Cyril was still young with a head full of black hair and the person who looks like Gwede seems old already, with Grey hair while Gwede's hair is still dark despite his Grey beard.

I think you guys are getting caught up in conspiracies, So what happened in 1999? Because the ANC still did not win KZN, just to make it even better they also did not win it in 2004, only managing to get in 2009 when it was clear Zuma was going to be President.
 
Looks like Phoenix aren't exactly happy with DA representatives in their area.

Addressing Phoenix residents in a parked hall, Steenhuisen sought to downplay the threats by disgruntled residents to storm the hall and cause havoc on Wednesday.

“People want to blame the DA because there is no water in the taps. If you want someone to apportion blame to, don’t knock on the door of the DA. Knock on the door of the ANC, EFF, and smaller parties governing eThekwini metro,” he lashed out.

According to an insider, the party had gathered intelligence that a vigilante group had threatened not to allow Steenhuisen to deliver his election campaign message, saying the DA had failed the residents. This prompted an additional source of private security.

There was a problem with the vote in KZN? Really? I'd love to see that analysis or report.

That sounds like a conspiracy theory of epic proportions.

We don't do door to door hoping to hear what we like, we are the only party brave enough to do door to door knowing fully well some people would not be happy, it would be very odd if everyone is happy and not scold us, that is the difference between the ANC and the DA, we don't run away from unhappy voters, we sit there and take it, that's what makes us the Greatest Liberation Movement of all time.

Yeah no, I would hazard a guess that most of Phoenix aren't unhappy. This looks like a vigilante group that would use violence to get their way.
Also digging just a small amount into social media, what I can find shows that this is a fringe group that doesn't seem to have much support in general.

One has to wonder who Mervyn Ramparsad is in relation to this, and what his agenda is.

There were reports that odd things were going on in KZN in 94. Even the LA Times reported on it.

So from my reading of that article, its the opinion of a single person.

There were issues with the 1994 election nationally without a doubt, were they fundamentally material to the outcome, very unlikely.
